Is there a large fold-out map in the DLCS? Or is it simply a series of maps printed within the book itself?

No pull out maps, but a series of maps printed within the book.

The maps are nice, but I don't think there is one of the entire continent all together.

Thats a shame, I really want a pull out fill-colour map. Preferably double sided - 5th age on one side, and 4th age on the other.

I'm just glad to have a good 5th Age Ansalon map at all. But the one thing I like about Ansalon being broken up into four regions is that it allows for more of the smaller towns and cities to be noted.

I've had a good number of RPs occuring in Caergoth, and I have to say that even having a few more city names there has been very beneficial. (I've had a tough time finding ANYTHING of detail about that region.)

I just got my DLCS today!!!! Yeah, the maps are so so. They are broken up between different pages. It would have been nice to have had a smaller map on one page, like in the DL adventures. I still think the definitive DL map is the one from the Tales of the Lance boxed set. So I will continue using that. I'm sure we will be getting a source book or some accesory with a good size map in it soon. If you want a comprehensive (that is until right after the War of the Lance) set of maps check out the Atlas of Krynn.

Maybe they'll publish a giant 4 piece map in Dragon like they did for the Realms. I hope they do.

Unlikely. Unlike FR, Dragonlance is in the hands of Sovreign Stone now... licensed of course, but that says to me that they would be unlikley to do it.

Maybe theres a map somewhere down the pipeline.

I have the Atlas of Krynn by Karen Wynn Fonstad, and its a great resource but its beginning to show wear and tear and I don't want it falling apart on me at a game.

Well, perhaps the big map is another thing that could be brought up when certain board members here go to visit SS at Gen Con.

Because we never communicate outside of major gaming conventions. ;)

I think that from the scans of the book that Gaming Report has put up, the maps in the book are going to be very useful for most occasions where maps are needed. However, I agree that a larger, poster-sized map would be attractive. Assuming Sovereign Press can acquire the images, it wouldn't be impossible to release that at some point in the future.

Cheers,

Another thing? I didn't realize there was a list. :D Let's see... we need hoopak stats and a fold out map... Plus I need to give Cam a pat on the back for his birthday and Andre a kick in the shins just because, and finish those flamingo dance lessons with Matt, and Trampas a piggy back ride... I hope I got those in the right order. heh

Wow, there is a lot to do while we're there! :D

Let's see you need to...

Get a piggy back ride from a Flamingo
Hit Cam with a Hoopak
A fold out map of Andre's shins
and
Wach Matt give Trampas a birthday kick

Right!

I love Attention Deficite Disorder!

Don't forget...you have to sign my DLCS for me. Trampas will have it.

I was hoping to get everyone to sign it myself in person...but it just didn't work out this time around. Maybe next time. heh

The Atlas of Dragonlance by Karen Wynn Fonstad is one of the best atlas guides for Krynn out there. Regretably its out-of-print. Fonstad worked on a few atlas for fantasy worlds (ie Forgotten Realms, The Land and Dragons of Pern) but the only one you can find is the Atlas Of Middle Earth.
Anyway you could look online for a used copy of the Altas of Dragonlance, however it would cost twice the original release price. I saw one for good condition for 40$ once. yowyee Depends on how much you want it. We can assume that a full map of Ansalon will pop up sooner or later.

I was sure that I saw Dragonhelm mention something about GenCon a couple of days ago...

Speaking of the atlas, mine is in pristine condition; it looks just like it did the day I bought it. I cover all my softbound books and novels with clear contact paper. Just go down to Walmart or anywhere for that matter and get some clear contact paper. It will be around the printed ones as well. People use this to line the insides of kitchen drawers.

1. Lay the book on the paper, and measure for both sides and the spine. Leave about an inch excess all the way around.
2. Then pull the protective paper off of the clear plastic and place the book spine in the middle of the plastic. I smooth this down on the edge of the table.
3. Ease the plastic onto the front or back cover. I leave the plastic on the table and slightly bend the book in order to "roll" it down onto the plastic, as I slide it across the table. This prevents bubbles from forming.
4. Ok the rest is too hard to explain without diagrams. You have to fold the plastic around to the inside of the cover. Also you have to cut any parts that would overlap. Play with this and you will see what I mean.
5. Repeat the same thing for the other side/cover.
6. Now you should have two tabs extending from the spine. Cut that as close to the spine as you can. And viola ..... an immortal book.
