half-irda in 1E

Jul 17, 2003 9:24:58 I was just wondering how 1/2 irda in 1E would be handled. According to the original DL Source book, Irda received +2 to Int, Dex, and Cha, and -2 to Con. Would 1/2 irda receive +1 and -1 in these stats respectively? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No race has an uneven modifier to ability scores. Ability score modifiers are always even numbers.

Cam, check the subject header. He's playing in a 1e game, so odd-numbered ability score modifiers would be okay.

BTW, I've written up a 3e version of half-irda, if you're interested. I don't know how much it would help with your 1e game, but it may provide some flavor.

Ah, the days of first edition. I still remember getting my first Unearthed Arcana.

Jul 17, 2003 12:28:46 heh. my first gaming product was time of the dragon. When i actually learned to play D&D, 2nd edition was already well established, and had been out for 2-3 years.

Jul 18, 2003 3:55:52 I remember the basic stats and monster profiles of the 1e Fiend Folio. As well as that, some of the art in that tome was too cartoonish.

The cover seemed to trivialize the whole nature of a 'fiend folio' to begin with.
