After Rise of the Titans came out back in 1999, fans of dragonlance were stranded in a hopeless state, as Chaos struck down and took the gods, and our game world, with him. Like the denizens of the SAGA, we were forced to rely on our own methods, our own inner strengths, to create the game world ourselves. Whether we drew from the existing world, or from our own inner imaginations, it truly was the age of mortals. All we could do was hope that one day we would again be supported.

Then we discovered that Margaret Weis, self proclamed Queen of Darkness, stole the world away from chaos, and allowed the gods to return. The book in my hand is the end result of that War of Souls, and i am deeply grateful for it.

This, my friends, is what dragonlance is really all about. Keeping faith even when all hope is lost. Trusting that one day everything will be right again. I'm glad to see that my faith was not misplaced.
Thank you, Sovereign Press, for bringing the lance back.

---

and these are only my thoughts from the title page! full review this weekend folks. And i won't be pulling any punches.

you know what bro? War of Souls has been complete for over a year now. If you havent read it yet, then stay the hell away from the DLCS. It will spoil everything just from the table of contents.

I guess I should've read it by now but 3 years ago was the first time that I ever read Chronicles and today I have all of the novels except for a few of the out of print ones. So in three years it isn't very feasible for somebody like me, who is right in the middle of high school to be able to catch up to the point of the War of Souls. I read up to Dragons of a New Age trilogy and now have decided to back track a bit by reading Bridges of Time and the Chaos War Series as well as some of the stuff from the background series of the Heroes of the Lance (Meetings Sextet and Preludes). Also before reading the War of Souls, I plan on reading the Dhamon Saga as well as the three Fifth Age anthologies (Relics and Omens, Heroes and Fools, Rebels and Tyrants). So I figure I might be starting the War of Souls around Christmas time. I know that that's kind of pathetic but I'd like to get the most that I can out of War of Souls with as much background reading done as possible. I know that alot of DL Gamers just read the core books (W&H: Chronicles, Legends, War of Souls) and some people read the Rabe trilogy as well (Dragons of a New Age) but that just isn't enough for me personally so if I havent read the War of Souls yet then that is because I feel that I'm not ready to read it yet.
So, maybe you it wasn't really necessary to put a spoiler in your post (you're right, most people have read War of Souls). I just found the thread title sort of misleading, I mean I sure didnt expect to find the end result of DoVM in a thread titled, I Have It! But anyways sorry about snapping at you for not putting a spoiler on your post (it was sort of an impulse reply, I was kind of ****** off at myself for reading the ending of DoVM on these boards rather than in the book, which I own). Sorry for taking my anger out on you rather than myself. Besides, your post really doesn't give any details, just the main idea. Peace.

shrug. i've read every single dragonlance product ever made, so i'm a bit biased.

But dude, what else would i have possibly talked about? The DLCS ruins war of souls. The DLCS also ruins the minotaur trilogy, the linsha trilogy, the new dark thane book, legends, chronicals, summer flame, the fifth age, elven nations, dwarven nations, histories, heroes, preludes, meetings, tales, warriors, villians, lost gods, defenders of magic, and pretty much every other dragonlance book out there.

Sorry to spoil it for you, but Tanis kills ariakas, and raistlin doesnt become a god.

And dude, i read the bulk of dragonlance over the course of a summer while i was in 10th grade =) So i don't buy the excuse that it isnt feasable to do. I bought almost half my collection at used book stores.

Suffice to say, spoiler warnings on books generally last a year after publication date. I mean, there are books that go past that point now, so its hard to remember what to censor.

But honestly, anything that may have been spoiled here doesnt even come close to the poetry of the book. The end of Vanished Moon is so awesome that this post won't even matter to you.

What? Are you serious?

I'm not. :D

Anyway yeah, while I think that spoiler warnings are prudent, even when dealing with older books, when you are talking about the DLCS it's kind of impossible to avoid them. It spoils the entire 'main Dragonlance plotline'.

Sorry to change the subject a little here... but I need to know the stat mods and racial abilities of the Silvanesti Elves. One of my players has already started making his character for our next campaign.

If you wouldn't mind, could you post that info for me? Or mail it to me?

Appriciated.

'-2 CHA?'.

Hmm...that's interesting. Why the penalty?. Does anybody know?.

Because they are generally not friendly people. Look at how the Silvanesti treated Gilthanas(in Oddyssey of Gilthanas) and Porthios(in the Puppet King). And those two are full-blooded elves, think of what the rest of the world gets.

I see your point. Although I have never read Odyssey of Gilthanas, I have read The Puppet King, and that example was made quite clear.

Taking that into consideration then, are there any different half-elf stats in the DLCS, or are they the same as the PHB?.

Also, besides Tanis, and his treatment at the hands of the elven peoples (expecially the Silvanesti) are there any other examples of Half-Elf characters who have received ill-treatment at the hands of the Silvanesti Elves (in a sourcebook or novel for example)?.
