#1ferratusJul 29, 2003 2:53:05 | Does the Age of Mortals have any new nations that are not mentioned in the DLCS? Specifically does it mention Blodeheim, New Coast, the Dragon Realms, Enstar, Nostar, Crystine, Tanith, Estwilde, Duntillock, Chorane or the Spine of the World? |

#3brimstoneJul 29, 2003 12:33:20 | Trampas and I were discussing this last night... Do you all think the Maelstrom will come back now that Krynn is reconnected to the Abyss? My impression of what the Maelstrom's whirlpool was, is that the hole created by the oblivion of Temple of Paladine into the Abyss is what caused the whirlpool...a sort of eternal drain (and I always invisioned the water being spewed out somewhere beyond the Turbidis Ocean). Anyway...I thought it was a plausible explination that the reason it went away is becasue that "portal" to the Abyss was closed off during the first 38 years of the Age of Mortals. Now that Krynn is reconnected to it's outer planes, and the Abyss is back...does that reopen that portal in the depths of the blood sea and restart the Maelstrom? Just a thought... |
#4talinthasJul 29, 2003 12:41:15 | hmm. that same question could be applied to hitehkel in taladas. it will be interesting to see what SP does.... Personally, i think that it should stay dead, at least until another god goes and starts it up again. I think Sargas wants to keep it subdued during the invasion... |
#5cam_banksJul 29, 2003 12:41:35 | Originally posted by Brimstone Good question. It's possible, although as far as I can tell from the planar cosmology of Krynn in the Age of Mortals post-War of Souls, it isn't the same Abyss. The bubble formed by the outer planes which used to contain Krynn is still somewhere else, with the gods having created a whole new bubble to contain and surround Krynn. Thus, although it's possible the portal to the Abyss at the bottom of the Maelstrom would have reopened had Krynn been moved back to where it came from, Krynn remains in its new location and therefore the portal is probably permanently closed. #6talinthasJul 29, 2003 12:48:08 | looking at the cosmology, i notice that the Gray is gone. what happened? |
#7cam_banksJul 29, 2003 14:30:18 | Originally posted by talinthas Although it doesn't actually say, one could assume that the Gray is either the Ethereal Sea (and this explains how Skie knows about it, since the portals to the world of the Dragon Overlords lead through there) or another plane altogether. I'm leaning towards the former, although it's also likely given Mina's conversation to Skie that he hadn't been anywhere but inside his own head. That may have been the case for his most recent journey to find Kitiara's spirit - Takhisis engineers a sort of mental deception whereby he goes straight to his lair and thinks he's wandering the planes. #10brimstoneJul 30, 2003 9:38:27 | Originally posted by Richard Connery Did it show the Blood Sea, or did it actually say "Maelstrom?" (I don't remember the maps in the books...and I don't have any of them handy) |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 30, 2003 12:56:34 | Originally posted by Brimstone According to the book maps, it just says the Blood Sea, however, they don't show enough of the Blood Sea to be Certain. The Dragons of a Lost Star map reveals half of the Blood Sea with a swirl in the center. I think this is what Richard is referring to. Glad to be of help :D ! |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 30, 2003 13:11:16 | Tobin: What Paladin's Wrath said. DoLS shows a stylised maelstrom on the Blood Sea. Perhaps WotC didn't have any 5A maps and let the cartographer base the map off the 4A ones? |
