As some of you have already noticed, tonight I've uploaded the Dustmen, Fated, and the Ring-Givers faction write-ups. Feel free to check them out at www.planewalker.com.

Nice write-up. I have a question, though. One of the prominent members includes a character named Silidath (NE female shad Wiz 5/Rog 5 Fated). Is this Fated part correct? If it is, I would love to see the background on why the member of another faction is prominent in this one.

I enjoyed the write-up on the Ring-Givers in particular. Based on the various interpretations, it seems that there would be quite a few paladin Ring-Givers for the altruistic reasons provided.
This philosophy seems to suit those who have little need for worldly possessions. Spellcasters, aside from wizards, derive their powers from within, nature, gods, etc. so they could get along reasonably well without physical possessions. Monks, relying on their own bodies more than weapons, would also seem to suit this philosophy. Psionicists would also seem to be drawn to this philosophy.

The write-up discusses physical possessions a lot, but it doesn't really tackle metephysical possessions. For example, would it be acceptable for a Ring-Giver to give up one's soul? I already know what a glabrezu would say, I'm more interested in the larger membership of the faction. Are there some things that you should never give up?

Over all, I must say I'm pleased with the editing for the Ring-Givers. Whoever tackled the job of refining my thoughts did a good job, although the introduction seems a bit clunky, as though it was written by a different person.

Kalidor187, I'll tackle your question since I worked on the Ring-Givers...

While the philosophy of the Ring-Givers was easy enough to port over from the existing Planescape products, the difficulty lay in quantifying the ability of calling in favors to make Ring-Givers viable for players. The focus, therefore, is placed on physical possessions because you can compare them and determine who has the upper hand.

Of course, part of the core of character progression for 3E is the accumulation of wealth and items...characters of any given level are assumed to have equipment (magical or otherwise) appropriate to their level. This is at odds with the Ring-Giver philosophy, so a number of feats were created to allow Ring-Givers to circumvent that need.

Something as esoteric as a soul would be valued on an individual basis and not worth consideration by the faction as a whole. Indeed, most members could not use another's soul if it were offered, so it holds no value for them. In addition, outsiders/exemplars have no souls, which is why they cannot be resurrected, so they have nothing to offer in that case.

However, the DM has the final say in his or her own campaign. If he or she thinks it's viable, a character can certainly start up a trade in souls, becoming chummy with baatezu and tanar'ri high-ups and giving the night hags a run for their money. Maybe outsiders/exemplars could be included as well, with a trade of "sparks" springing up ala The Deva Spark. If an in-depth examination of the factions is ever done like the Factol's Manifesto, such a system might be explored in a more concrete fashion.

Fated: the Entreprenuers. seems like the majority of corperate america would fit right in.

There's also room in their philosophy for petite bourgeousie, little guys in the right place at the right time, or carving out their own small niche. Especially these days, with the faction on the outs.

And the Ring-Givers are indeed cool. I might have to play one of those guys if I ever get the chance.

A wonderful work as usual. The Xaosintecs was the best of the lot I must say, even if I never liked their faction as a whole, but you know, that tastes rather well with brahmin?

I'm curious as to the team. How many people are working on the book?

Just curious because I'm so impatient--good sourcebooks are hard to come by. Keep it up.

The number of people who have contributed to the book is around 20-30, while the people who have been continuously dedicated to its work is only a handful.
