Has anyone thought of, or actually has, converted any of the cooler characters from the original 2e modules into 3e?? One's like the High Illithid Master, Bonespur, Senmet etc...

I'd be very interested for any feedback/conversions!!

I'll eventually be converting Thoughts of Darkness for an Illithid-centered campaign I want to run. That may not happen for a year or two, I'm afraid.

I did that for nearly everyone that hadn't been 3e'd yet, compiled it into a netbook, and let people use it. It went on for a while, until I was asked to stop.

The only netbook I now maintain is the d20 Modern one in my sig.

When I was running my last Ravenloft game (lasted about a year and a half), I had to do a crapload of 3E conversions, including good old Bonespur, Elena Faithhold, and a few others. Unfortunately, at the moment they're all in the hands of my fiancee's younger brother, who's running a continuation of my campaign (set several decades later) for his PCs. I remember that Elena wasn't very directly powerful (she certainly isn't in her write-up from Darklords), something like Fighter 2/Blackguard 10, and Bonespur was some harsh (his write-up from Thoughts of Darkness originally made me go "sweet Jeebus!").

Wish I could be more help... maybe in a month or two I'll get those stats back, but by then it'll probably be too late. In Ravenloft, it's always too late!

That's right. You can convert away until you develop carpal tunnel syndrome. But DON'T make your developments public!

Certain people REALLY frown upon that kinda thing. Castration is a possible punishment.

Beware.

LOL. Not yet, but it's funny you mention that cuz "most" hardcore Ravenloft-heads absolutely despise the vampiric illithid.

Myself, I don't think it's THAT bad of an idea. It's a cool fantasy twist on some old D&D monsters. Other than Thoughts Of Darkness, I wouldn't know where to find any references on vampiric illithids.

Just curious, but...
Why?
The only things that bug me about them are how they're unkillable, what with reforming from their gaseous form, and that they don't die in sunlight.

My manz! It's been awhile! I've missed your constant needling! I remember people hating on the idea of vampiric illithids, cuz they say "the whole point of vampirism is to prevent the aging process". So how can a vampiric illithid tadpole grow into a full-fledged illithid vampire? Wouldn't they stay a tadpole forever?

Gemathustra, it's great to see ya!

I thought I'd quit pussyfooting around, and join you.

Anyhow, according to the RLMCII, I got the impression that Lyssa simply just drained a couple of mind flayers.

And true, corpses can not biologically age.
I guess, then, that the illithid vampires aren't undead, but, some sort of mutant, not unlike the dhampire?

Hello Gemathustra,

Lyssa...Hmmm. Isn't she from Souragne(I think I remember reading about her in one of the RL novels)? Or am I mistaken?

You were thinking of Larissa Snowmane from Souragne. :D

And a shout out to MSD while I'm here; haven't heard from you since that falling out thing. It's good to see you're still out there!

Make room for us, MSD.. we're coming to stay, most likely.

As for LYSSA.. well, no full stats were given, but she was mentioned in a sidebar in Gaz. 1 .... I think an Aristocrat/Sorcererss, forget the exact levels.
