I have plan to replay the war of the lance with some new player around here. I also plan to use the 3ed and the new dragonlance campaign book. But i have probleme with the dragon and the fact that they are now 3 to 5 time more powerfull now in the 3ed.

Did the new source will give idea how to deal about it? Did anyone have idea?

I think that you should not see it as a problem, but more as an advantegde. In 2ed. the dragons were to weak, now they have just been giving the power that they disserve.
I we go by the novels, the numbers of dragons killed by "everyday" heroes are close to zero, and there is a reason for it.

The advantegde is that now the players have to properly plan the assult of a dragon, and in most cases recruit some help to do it.

Alternativly I you want a dragon killing scene, you just roll bad on its hit points, remove some of it's specialabilities, and drop the CR a bit.

Also keep in mind that most dragons that were actually killed (or even dealt with in the various books) were still pretty young. You don't really need to remove any hit points or special abilities. Just use young adult dragons for most any "normal" encounters.

Also keep in mind that the players will almost always face dragons with some sort of advantage.

When fighting Onyx the Blue Crystal Staff does all the heavy lifting.

Malfaeur takes care of Pyros (at least she does in the novels I can't remember how it worked in the modules).

At the High Clerist Tower the players can use the dragonlances and the dragon orb.

So many of the fights against dragons are more cinematic than actual tactical combat.

If you are playing through the war of the lance, simply assign the dragons to the age category which is the appropriate CR for the adventure, taking into account the uber magical items that Tracy Hickman likes to dole out in his adventures. Onyx may be a little younger, but she'll be just as threatening as she was in the original modules.

edit: got the dragon name wrong.

I the module the first 1-2 dragon are easy. Like you say just use the special item or some trick like that. But later in the serie of module player most fight some dragon and in somecase the dragon of a dragon high lord (the white dragon in the ice wall by exemple).

I like the dragon in the 3ed becasue now thay are what they most be but the original module was writen for the 1ed. I played all of them as DM in the 2ed setting with some trick but now it is nearly impossible. If i lower the CR of the dragon the age of them will not fit with the story line and if i boost the level of the player the draconian will be too cheap for them.

Just wanted to know if someone did manage to find a solution in the past.

By the way what will be the power of the dragonlance and the dragon orb in the 3ed?
