Hello guys,

I´m new here and i´m about to aks a really unusual question:

A long time ago i bought the Ravenloft game for DOS. It ran fine at that time...i had to make a boot disk to save resources and run the game. IT worked fine. But then the Windows world took place and i cant run it again. (i´m using win98 SE). Just asking if any of you has a trick to run it properly under windows. Cause when i try to run it on DOS (where i had to modify things like autoexec.bat and config.sys to run the sound and cd-rom support)
i usually get no sound...as my sound card is a Sound Blaster Live!. Any clues? I really like this game...

It could be that you don't have enogh free conventionel memeory, must old DOS games requires around 600 out of ones 640k.

I don't think it is a windows problem, since 98 is dos-based and not NT-based, must old games run pretty well under windows.
It could also be that your sound card is to new (strange sentence) I the game only supports adbild and roland sound devices, some sound blaster won't work, but then again most do in fact work.

I'm actually here looking for some info about a quest that I haven't been able to beat in Strahd's Possession (if you have Stone Prophet, Strahd's Possession is the predecessor).
Anyway... You cannot run either game in Windows. You have to run it via Dos Prompt.
As for your sound problems dan, I would suggest that you run the setup file (which should run in Windows fine, if not go by way of DOS) and see what it autodetects.
Also, don't tell the system to "restart in Dos mode", just use the MS_DOS Prompt shortcut. That may be another part of your problem...
By the way, if you're playing Strahd's Possession and you've gotten very far, I would appreciate some help on it. I'm stuck in one place about 2/3 of the way through the game.
