Hi all,

I have just begun a new planescape game, which i started last night, all though my players have never seen planescape before they quickly warmed to its charms, after letting them explore some of the cage and introducing them to a few NPC's they set about their first adventure, which involves a feud between 2 factions. they should have this adventure finished by the end of the next session, in doing so they would also have learned alot about sigil, the outlands and the multiverse in general.

I am currently working on some ideas for a campaign, in doing so a came across an old 2e campaign called "deva spark" after having a quick glance through it, it seems pretty good.

has any one played this campaign? if so how did you find it?
also can any one recomend any campaigns for planescape that you have found fun to play?

Thanks in advance

I played in it. One of the best DM's I'd ever had ran it. It still sucked. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure other people enjoy it very much. That is, if I'm thinking of the same adventure. This is the one with the bebelith running around on elysium and the fight with the vrocks at the end, right?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the setting, the Deva Spark just didn't sit right with me for some reason or another. I played it in second edition, since 3rd edition wasn't even close to out at the time.

I've run Dead Gods in 3rd edition, (rather, parts of it) and it seemed to work out pretty well. Faction war's not bad, but it makes major cosmetic changes to Sigil, so I wouldn't reccomend running it until you've gotten what you want out of Sigil already and are willing to shake things up.

I am running 3.5, any conversion that needs doing doesn't bother me. after reading Deva spark it looks like it could be an interesting adventure to give the players an insight into the abyss and elysium.

however my players are new to planescape and i am looking to run some adventure to introduce them to the world, this seems like it could be of interest.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the setting, the Deva Spark just didn't sit right with me for some reason or another

why was that? (apart from the deva giving his spark to the first berk he see's)

Dead gods looks interesting but getting hold of a copy could be difficult

did you try the one in the campaign setting where they chase the gith wiz/rog ? that was an ok situation to start out w/. but yeah the deva spark was ok. something wild was kinda cool too, but my DM didnt play it right thats why i get to take over . i was going to convert it over to 3.5 myself but that was the last campaign we played before 3.0 came out.

You can get hold of all of the Planescape material as down-loadable PDFs for less than $4.99 from www.svgames.com and www.rpgnow.com. Simply do a search for the planescape product of interest on either of these sites or search for "planescape".

:bounce: just what i wanted to hear.

the thing w/ my friends that i play w/ is that we all have our own favorite setting that we like: one guy loves forgotten realms (just becuz of a drow and barb), dont get me wrong ive read the books and enjoyed it and like them myself, but PS is way cooler, even tho they do have planetouched in their setting.
my other friend loves ravenloft and dragon lance and he's the one that bought my PS setting (i gave him the laugh) and i've loved it every since. i really dont know what im going on about right now so i guess im getting outta here for i go barmy.

That's the best thing about planescape: Someone likes Forgotten Realms? You can use stuff from it. Someone else likes Dragonlance? Great, Kender on the planes. Another person loves Sigil and wants to play a hardened Cager, and yet another has been scarred from living on Athas for his entire childhood? Wonderful, sounds like a great party all around, with room to play to the strengths and weaknesses and most importantly, culture clashes of all of them.

Actually, that's exactly what I do. Pick and choose my favorites from every campaign--which is why I originally started getting Planescape stuff. I liked the idea of a setting that was uniting everything together.

yeah it helps a lot especailly when they come out with something new almost every month. so we try to put our stuff together to make things go better. but one of the sad things is my friend really doesnt get the concept of PS bcuz he's stuck so far up R. A. Salvatore's butt and Drizzt as well... dont get me i like the series too myself but its no need to close off something that covers even his realm. my other friends like PS but not as much as i do , of course. but i guess thats what makes a good gaming group. almost a motley crew of sorts. oh yeah i was looking at the svgames and rpgnow sites and almost started to get everything of planescape there, but i wanted to know what the best of the best was. i know dead gods is supposed to be the best. what else would you say would be good (besides all of them?)

That was one of the failings of the line--there were so many different supplements that were necessary, yet many of them restated things that had been said in other books. Every now and then something came way out of left field, but because they had to assume that people didn't have all the other published books (which is a good idea, don't get me wrong), they had to have things on subjects already published on.

Back on subject, though, I haven't played enough of the actual modules to be able to say--as on the whole I don't play very many modules.

the one thing that boils my hide is that every other weekend when we get together to play i never know which campaign were going to play. i would like to either finish City of the Spider Queen first, or Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil beofer we do anything else with anything or let me start mine campaign i made up just for Planescape. i thought about using the "incursion" campaign that was in the Dragon.
