I was introduced to Dragonlance and AD&D some ten years ago by a friend. Due to my dislike of AD&D 2nd ed., I never bothered learning much about the setting. However, after having picked up the new d20 book, I have a million campaign ideas swirling in my head. I just had a few questions. If anyone could give me some feedback or direct me to a site that could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd like to run a game that stays as true as possible to the setting.

1. Has there ever been a Kender mage? Gnome barbarian? Irda rogue? Should I restrict some classes based on race in order to be more in line with the setting?

2. Are there any "stock" D&D monsters not found in Dragonlance? (e.g. Beholders, Kobolds, Demons, etc.)

3. Would it be completely off base to allow the Paladin class? While I don't want to stray too far from the setting, I do like giving the players a lot of options during character creation.

4. Half-Orcs. Do they exist in Dragonlance?

5. Are there any monks in Dragonlance? The book only covered them with a couple of paragraphs.

6. Do sorcerors have to undergo the Test of High Sorcery? I'm a little uncertain of it.

That about sums it up. Thanks again for your help!

A kender sorcerer would be a possibility, a wizard would be quite a roleplaying challenge. Same thing for a gnome mage. I'd avoid restricting race/class combos and just let the players try their best at roleplaying them.

2. Are there any "stock" D&D monsters not found in Dragonlance? (e.g. Beholders, Kobolds, Demons, etc.)

No psionic monsters, orcs, drow, halflings or lycanthropes. The upcoming Bestiary should answer this more completely.

3. Would it be completely off base to allow the Paladin class? While I don't want to stray too far from the setting, I do like giving the players a lot of options during character creation.

There have been a few paladins in DL.

4. Half-Orcs. Do they exist in Dragonlance?

No, but there are half-ogres.

5. Are there any monks in Dragonlance? The book only covered them with a couple of paragraphs.

There are, but they are very rare.

6. Do sorcerors have to undergo the Test of High Sorcery? I'm a little uncertain of it.

No they don't.
