I don't know if I just didn't catch it in the DLCS, but what do mystics use for spells that require a divine focus?

Thanks for the help, all.

Okay. You know what? That's possibly the least helpful thing you could post here. Even less useful than "I don't know."

If in doubt, don't hit the Reply button.

As for the question - this was raised here a week or so ago, and I think at the time the consensus was for the mystic to use something that was related to their domain or a personal item they were attached to as a divine focus, since mystics don't carry medallions of faith.

It's possible that the mystic will use a holy symbol, but they might also grab a handful of earth or rock (for the Earth domain), a lucky copper piece (for the Luck domain), their sword (the War domain) and so on.

Cheers,
Cam

Thanks for the advice Cam. I was thinking something along similiar lines, that they used something extremely personal to their beliefs.

Good ideas, Cam. I personally said that the character should take something that their character would find personal to them as their divine favor. Something as simple as a ball that they and a dead sibling played with, or maybe something more ornate, like a sword that has been handed down through the generations.

What about a dead lizard that hangs from a rope?

It all makes sense! Bupu was a mystic!

Makes perfect sense, and it was personal to the character. I think that is great justification.

For an evil character, they might do something a bit more...unsettling.

For example, an evil mystic may use the forefinger from his first kill as a divine focus, especially if necromancy was his domain.

Sorry if that was a bit graphic.

A necklace of ears from kills in the past. Needing a new one for each spell level obtained, and cant use the spells without the proper ears.

A gnomish mystic could use a gnomish device he created. ;)

That could turn out bad. What if the device was activated all of a sudden. . . . ?
