How are people going to be handling Conjurers and Evokers who wish to ( or are required to ) join the Orders of High Sorcery? I know that Age of Mortals is going to present rules for generalist wizards taking on the WOHS prestige class- should the same rule also be used to handle the specialists mentioned above? I assume that in such a case the Conjurer / Evoker would keep their existing benefits from specialization but would ignore the benefits and restrictions of the WOHS enhanced specialization class feature.

I suppose that a simpler option would be simply for conjurers and evokers to take the Test and associate with an Order, but not take on levels in the WOHS prestige class at all.

Or of course they could just move en masse to Taladas :D

As for the specialization, that's another tweak. I'm just going to have all wizards give up another school (even general ones), and have the specialization stack. So it will look like this:

Abjurerer White Robe +4 DC abjuration spells, banned necromancy, enchantment, alteration.

Evoker White Robe +2 DC evocation spells, +2 DC abjuration spells, banned necromancy, enchantment, alteration

Wizard White Robe +2 DC abjuration spells, banned necromancy.

I forget whether or not specialist wizards get a +1 to caster level, but if they don't I'll just remove it from the WOHS both for balance and neatness. That's really the whole point of this tweak. The rules aren't necessarily wrong, but this is neater.

So you're going to let the White Robe choose one of their two favored schools, either Abjuration or Divination, and be considered specialists, but with only one prohibited school? Or are you assuming all White Robes get abjuration and are prohibited from necromancy?

Specialists gain no caster level bonus, you are correct.

Cheers,

I think that the reason these schools were chosen for the WOHS is so that mages would have access to some schools and to give a flavor more like they had in 1st edition.
