I was looking through the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer and trying to get a better grasp of what the world really is, converting most of the endless rambling into to the point relatable information. I was looking at the 6 human races and wondering what real world culture they best compare to.

My best guesses were:

Baklunish = Arabian/Mongolian
Flan = Native American
Oeridian = Celtic
Olman = Aztec
Rhennee = Gypsy
Sueloise = Nordic (Hard to say, I dont really know on this one)

What do you all think?
And why do you think that?

Sounds fairly similar to what many people do.

Check this thread out for some more ideas.

The Suel remind me of Spainairds. So you can say Latin. But I believe everything done with the Scarlet Brotherhood and the like resembles the spainish empire closely. I pretty much agree with the rest of your racial equivilents.

Flan = Celtic, Slavic, Greek
Oeridian = Roman
Suloise = Germanic/Norse

Though this is just a general starting point. They are so mishmashed and different from Earth cultures that they are unique cultures themselves.

The original Minifigs minis for the Rovers of the Barrens had them with mustaches and topknots, with celtic type pants. Celtic-like, but not celtic at all.

This may sound like nitpicking, but I think the Olmans are a little more like the Maya. The Aztec empire was at its height when the Spanish conquered it, but the Maya, like the Olman, had long left their cities and descended into "barbarism," as the LGG puts it, before contacting other peoples.

Also, it seems like the Frost, Snow, and Ice barbarians are based on Nordic peoples while the other Suloise are harder to pin down.

But try not to compare the races of Oerth with those of Earth too much because, IMHO, it causes one to have narrow horizons when roleplaying.
