I know this was stated before, but i lost some hours in the greytalk archive, and it wasnt very helpfull. I really need some good answears about this.

(Ok, i have ToEE, RttToEE, the LGGazetteer, Iuz the Evil, Ivid the Undying, and some pocket books, and thats it; i didnt read everything yet)

So: ToEE shows Thrommel as a disguised vampire, but magic reveals his true form; but if Furyondy, in 591 CY, is still without a heir, i supose that the "Canon" party (who went throught the ToEE) killed Thrommel instead of saving him; but he is still alive on the RttToEE, so, they ignored him? Or was Thrommel kidnapped twice?

First: who kidnapped him? Nyrond> i can see why, maybe to make furyondy weaker, so it would be the target of Iuz instead of Nyrond, but the archbold is LGood, isnt? helping furyondy against Iuz would be more reasonable than burning the entire furyondy, making Iuz much stronger this way; Iuz or Vecna> theyre evil hehe, but why he gave Thrommel to thrazidum clerics? ; The scarlat brothehood> Why? Were they hired by someone, maybe Iuz...?

Then.. what about his ring? Both Temple and RotT says nothing about a jewel in his ring, but i saw somewhere about a soulstone in it; (well i found like three versions of this, so thats what i remember now) when he died and was changed into a vampire, his soul fled to the soulstone, and now this jewel is buried deep in Tenser Castle, in some secret chamber. Only by getting the soulstone back he can be ressurected (but the RttT says that you can just kill him and then ressurect his body, to free him from the curse, 'unless presented with an artifact of his old life or some such' - what that means? "heres your childhood pet" - "ohh stuffed kittie" and then he changed into a human again; im sure its not that easy to defeat a vampire...).

Others prefer to rule that Thrommel is doing a quest for redemption, and hes on West Oerik (duh); Others says that hes dead. And theres plenty of others versions around.

For my party: Spoilers ahead!!! Dont read!!

(good they dont read this forum anyway, hehe, but you never know)

Now, In My Campaing : Thrommel will soon be rescued by the players, will marry Jolene, a civil war will start, Iuz will wait the best moment to strike, thinks will be really bad, so the Co8 will offer help for Thrommel, but i want to make the Co8 involved on Thrommel kidnapping in some sort of way, so he refuses the help and put all on the players hands, heroics battles goes on and bada bada, etc. Why: after taking both the Temple of Elemental Evil and recapturing some lands occuped by Iuz, the CIrcle of 8 saw too much power on the hands of the good, so they (togheter with Iuz agents), in an ambush, got Thrommel, changed him into a vampire, etc, and Tenser got his soulstone; now, thinks are going to be really bad for Furyondy when Thrommel appear, but this is ok for the Circle; some member of the Circle will give the soulstone for the party while they're inside the temple, and after that, 'almost' everything that happens is on the Circle plans (Thrommel receives the crown, wins the civil war, Iuz takes Grabford with a bunch of clerics, hundreds of thousands of orcs follow them one day later, the war starts, etc), but Mordenkainem dont expect him to refuse the help from the obsidian citadel > thats b/c clerics of the dark god poisoned his mind during all this time, and he remembers too much from his time as a monster; he knows the truth, lets say > but i dont want to make those Thrommel - Iuz - Circle of Eight relationship like an video game cinematic - i want to give the players chance to interact with the story. Plus, two of them come from noble lineage, so they will be very close friends of the king by them, with many powers on their hand. I know it may no be the Canon version, but lets canonfire! hehe (ok that wasnt cool).

Soooo... any comments?

In the Greyhawk novels, the Scarlet Brotherhood worshipped Tharizdun, though I think in the novels it also has Iuz and Zuggtmoy responsible for capturing Thrommel. Can't recall specifics, so long ago.

2e Greyhawk had some of the SB worshipping Tharizdun, but it was more like a secret society.

That the Scarlet Brotherhood reveres He Who Must Not Be Named is made clear in Artifact of Evil.

IMGC, the players successfully freed Thrommel. Bad move. In his absence and presumed death, Belvor married Jolene in order to cement the Furyondy-Veluna alliance. Thrommel and the party goat as far as Verbobonc, where the viscout informed the prince that his father had married his intended bride. And worse - she was pregnant with Belvor's heir.

Belvor and Thrommel were forced into a civil war no one wanted. The nobles were divided and at war. The Church of St Cuthbert was split. Hazen was on his deathbed, and his likely successors, the Patriarchs of Veluna and Chendl, excommunicated eachother.

While his good and lawful enemies fought amoungst themselves, Iuz took the oportunity to seize a lasrge potion of northeastern Fuyrondy and the Shield Lands...
