Being used to diceless systems and all. I thought the complexity of 3.5e was just a no no. So I decided to buy an used copy of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia from Amazon. 40 dollars, shipping included. I thought it was a bit expensive considering I still have some of the old classic D&D boxed sets, but I think it's worth it for that book. I intend to use my own home brew with some elements of the Known World, and later on add intensive planar travel. I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, but I have a question that perhaps someone here can answer. I know the book includes a description of the Known World and the Hollow World. But does it also mention Blackmoor as being in the distant past of the world? The high technology, its collapse and all that. That was one of the elements I liked the most about Mystara. Thanks! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Elendur Date : 06-25-07 12:31 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question Why aren't you just playing in the diceless system your girlfriend is used to, and use the D&D setting? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : tankschmidt Date : 06-25-07 12:41 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any mention of Blackmoor in the Rules Cyclopedia. I will definitely check it out for you when I get home from work, though. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : tankschmidt Date : 06-25-07 07:54 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question I just flipped through the appendix on the Known World, and I didn't see any mention of Blackmoor. You may already be familiar with the Vaults of Pandius, but I 'll pass this link onto you anyway: http://pandius.com/ageblack.html There may be some more information tucked away in the Gazeteers, and I know there's some history in the Hollow World boxed set, but that's pretty well covered by on Pandius. Unless you can dig up the Judge's Guild First Fantasy Campaign or the Temple of the Frog adventure, you might be stuck with that. Good luck! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : Rikutatis Date : 06-25-07 07:56 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question Why aren't you just playing in the diceless system your girlfriend is used to, and use the D&D setting? Because the point is to get her started on D&D as a whole, rules and setting. She wants to learn, but with a compromise. :) I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any mention of Blackmoor in the Rules Cyclopedia. I will definitely check it out for you when I get home from work, though. Thank you tankschmidt! EDIT: Oh, there's your second post! Thanks a lot for checking. I'm hoping to snatch City of the Gods from a friend. But I'll take a look at the site as well, that's for sure. Thanks again. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 6] Author : tankschmidt Date : 06-26-07 07:02 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question I just randomly found this list of Blackmoor sites and thought of this thread: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23825&highlight= The last link in there includes a conversion of Blackmoor races to Rules Cyclopedia D&D! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : tankschmidt Date : 07-06-07 04:39 PM Thread Title : Re: Rules Cyclopedia - Musings and question I might be the only person who is still reading this thread, but you can download a free pdf of the original Blackmoor off of Dave Arneson's site here: http://jovianclouds.com/blackmoor/bmc.html Enjoy it like it was meant to be! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:23 AM.
