Long term campaign hook

Bouncing around a few ideas for story arcs (I like all my campaigns to connect, with the occasional side trek), and I came up with a winner (at least I think so).

Good organizations around Krynn begin receiving invitations to a sort of "New Whitestone Council." It is unclear who is sending them to whom, but enough cash and magical power are being funneled into the effort to interest the Solamnic Knights, the White Robes, and even a few gold dragons (the red robes and the LoS no doubt have a few spies planted as well). The purpose of the gathering becomes two fold:

1. To return Paladine to divine status.
2. To identify and stop an unknown figure that is accumulating items infused with the power of Takhisis (corrupted Dragonlances, temple relics, Nightbringer, etc...).

I figure I can have them race both to collect items infused with Paladine's former power, while racing to destroy/hide/obtain the evil artifacts as well. A race of good vs. evil, with neutral organizations caught between them, struggling to maintain the balance; at times helping the pc's, at times hindering them, and at all times not really knowing what the heck they should honestly be doing about this? At high levels, they could clash with Mina, who believes she is returning her Goddess to life, etc... The plot twist? It doesn't matter if they PC's got the items or not! Why? Both sides are working for the same person! It turns out Paladine doesn't have any interest in returning to Godhood (though he would if required to do so), and both sides have been working for everyone's favorite Dark Robed, asthmatic Wizard!

Do the pc's let Raistlan (who is Divine Rank 0 by this time) ascend to the new leadership of the evil Pantheon, forcing Paladine to reascend as his counterpart (or fight him, knowing it will doom Paladine to eventual death)? Will the Knights of Neraka fight his accent or back it? What is neutrality to do?

Questions, comments?

I Agree this is an obvious direction to go with for an Epic campaign

However I think it would be much more likly for Mina to try and resurect Takahiss then have Rasitlin pursue godhod again.

The books made if fairly obvious that Rasitlin joined his brother and other companions in the journey to the next world.

If you wanted to have a new character seek to replace Takahiss then I think Sable as the most powerful surviving Dragonlord is a good possibility, It's already established she likes to play god with her life experiments and abberations.

Great plot idea!

What's better is I can see all the speculation during the game on who's trying to ascend to evil godhood. Maybe the villians even compete for the position near the end, when all the evil artifacts are collected together. This plays into the theme that evil devours itself, and provides a heroic opportunity for good to slip in and triumph.

I had a plot that I was thinking of implementing which say a devote Knight of Neraka whom strongly believes in Takhisis. This Knight would try and ressurect Takhisis and return her to Godhood, and maybe in the process Paladine would return as well.
