It is definitely the best of the Planescape books in my opinion, though there were only a few. And it was definitely a major influence for the Planescape Torment CRPG from Bioware. Which is also in my opinion the best Bioware game next to BGII. The best thing about Denning is that he makes his characters work for there rewards, and it definetly shows in PoP. In contrast, just look at Rikus in Verdant Passage. He gets his butt whooped the first time you meet him. And again in every other book in the Prism Pentad, yet he ends up the most renowned warrior on the face of Athas by the end. And then on the other side, I just finished book 2 of the Tribe of One trilogy by Simon Hawke and Sorak hasn't even been bitten by a mosquito much less received a much deserved whomping. |
