I was looking through the 'official' Dark Sun releases and noticed there were a few missing numbers in the scheme of things. Does anyone know what these products are or were suppose to be?

TSR2429 & TSR2443 ?

I am just curious is all.

The only product that I know of that was designed yet never released was the adventure titled Dregoth Ascendant (or Rising?).

What were the products just before and after each of the missing numbers?

It is possible these two products were in fact Dregoth Ascending and Secrets of the Deadlands.

Just to claify my question..

2428 Black Spine [ESD] 1994 Adventure
2429 ??????????????????????
2430 Forest Maker [ESD] 1994 Adventure

.
.

2442 The Chronicles of Athas 5: The Rise and Fall of a Dragon King 1996 Novel
2443 ??????????????????????
2444 Mind Lords of the Last Sea [ESD] 1996 Supplement

The first one is before the Revised Boxed set and the last one is afterwards. I was just curious as to whether anyone knew.. perhaps they were just unfinished projects. I don't know..

No products were released bearing those product numbers. Like I said, they could be "Secrets of the Deadlands" and "Dregoth Ascending", both of which were unfinished products when handed over to athas.org.

Was Dregoth Ascending ever finished...?

Secrets of the Dead Lands and Dregoth Ascending were taken over by the athas.org team, and are being worked on, to my knowledge.

Allow me to correct myself. Secrets of the Deadlands has the product id 2447. The last product released was Psionic Artifacts of Athas (2446). So there is at least one product id number that is unaccounted for. Note the difference between 'missing number' and 'missing product' - a missing number does not necessarily mean a product was ever made or planned for that number.

The first draft of Dregoth Ascending, a 128 page box set w/32 page monster & map booklet, was finished by the designer Kevin Melka, but the line was canceled before it went to editing. Years later, after WoTC lost the electronic copy, Kevin gave a copy he saved to WoTC R&D who then turned it over to Athas.org for development. Originally it was awaiting the perfection of DS 3E rules, and is now supposedly waiting on an epic conversion. The original adventure was for levels 15+ if I remember correctly.

Dregoth Ascending was playtested at GenCon. Some copies of the script were even given away as prizes. However, to my knowledge it did not include all the maps and illustrations, so it was not entirely completed.

About these maps and pictures, have you ever tryed to get in touch with the art peoples that as named in the credits of the campaign, supplement and adventure? Maybe they still have, somewhere, hidden, on their harddrive, old darksun art!

Maps (and illustrations/art order) were never sent to the cartography dept, as the line was canceled mere days after the first draft was completed . All that ever existed were roughly sketched maps done in an old version of ClarisWorks/ClarisDraw (most of the TSR staff did their designing on MACs), so they are likely lost to the winds even if you had the files (many have tried to open them and have failed from what I've heard). From what I remember of the first draft that was at Gen Con, the maps might be able to be reconstructed from descriptive text.
