Hello,

I would like to know when Piazo Publishing plans to put out the next installment of the Paladins of Grey? The first part premired in April edition of the magazine. The next part was to be in Dungeon.

I am keeping a close the issues and has yet to hear if and when it will be done. What else has been done for either magazine to support the gameworld.

Looking forward to some help.

That was a great article... if it's never published, I have a copy of the manuscript... probably should ask the author first if I can give it out though :D

Well the particular issue of Dragon your refering to did a nice little write up on the Paladins of Greyhawk. Though I didn't see the need for a pistol packing paladin. In stead you could modify existing weapons such as crossbows, mancatchers, and blowguns for the Murlynd Paladins. I think the fire arm version is a little bit to Gondish (Gond of Forgotten Realms). Haven't seen any thing else greyhawk specific for paladins since then.
Dungeon magazine has thrown in a few greyhawk specific adventures. I also saw a recent issue #103 with a write up on Living Greyhawk Denizens of the Bright Desert. So I think both magazines have contributed to prolonging the setting.
You may also want to check out canonfire.com. They have some Greyhawk specific paladin articles. I know their was an article on Paladins of Heironious, I also believe their was some info on Pelorians in general if this helps. Also Dragon issue #312 has thrown the Dark Knights Anti-Paladins and such into the mix, though their not greyhawk specific.
Hope this helps!

Yep - got to agree there. Not a fan of firearms in Greyhawk at all. Hand crossbow might be an interesting substitute, or light crossbow for more traditional fans.

Myrlund or Murlynd or however you spell it, was a part of GH. He is canon. He comes from another world (Earth), I believe and is said to be a 'sherrif', hence his holy symbol and the fact he wields two hand guns. The guns the clerics use are magical in nature, not mechanical. They function only in the hands of a cleric of Murlynd, I believe.

Now... there are parts of Greyhawk lore that make it hard to swallow. Those parts, I excise. Like the whole barrier peaks thing. Point is, if you have Murlynd in your world, then you have pistols... it's very simple. If you don't want pistols, don't have Murlynd. Don't have any portals going to more advanced worlds.

But for those who DO like Murlynd, the write-up catered to them perfectly. I wish people would stop dissing Greyhawk as a whole just 'cause it has this in canon when I'm sure not every FR DM uses Elminster...

He was referring to the second part of the article. The original article was merely part one. There was a mention, IIRC, of there being a second installment, dealing with the rest of the potential paladinic gods of Greyhawk.

I think you could keep Murlynd but alter him just a bit. After all the aritcle states he was a follower of Heironious. Now even if you want to keep him from Earth (which I don't suggest) you don't have to use the pistols.
I have already modified weapons depending on race. I made the Goblins, particularly those from the Pomarj smarter than the average goblinoid. These goblins have developed a light crossbow weapon which fires hollow cased iron bolts. Dwarves have developed a hitch lock type of crossbow which refrains from time consuming winching. Heck you could even have a hollowed out staff with a pigs bladder filled with air at it's based almost bag pipe like. This staff could be used like a blow gun that doesn't utilize the users mouth. Just squeeze the bladder and watch the needle fly to it's target. That's the way i see Murlynd Paladins if you wish to utilize them in a more fantasy-like feel. But if you enjoy firearms then you can also play a Gonds men in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. That the Farunian god of technology. Murlynd could of been a dare I say it Joxer the mighty type of warrior under the worship of Heironious.
What ever floats your boat!

In our FR game Elmunchkin and that blackstaff fellow are both dead. When I heard that I just had to join the campaign :D

wrt Murlynd we have him in the game but the 'guns' are unique magical artifacts and he is from an Earth-like setting known by a different name.

I don't know what the 'official' word on Murlynd is now, but originally he was from Greyhawk. He was the PC of Don Kaye, Gygax's original partner with TSR. Murlynd was present at the very first Greyhawk adventure. Murlynd wasn't from Earth, but he was transported there via a gate in Greyhawk castle. That is where he picked up his firearms. Murlynd the PC never made it to the levels that the quasi-deity is given. Don Kaye passed away shortly after the company was formed and Gary created the quasi-deity to honor his deceased friend.

Thanks for your input and opinions.

I liked the write up on the Paladins because it helped settle disputes on how Paladins fit into the gameworld. I also liked to see how they differ from clerics or priest.

I loved the illustrations mostly. There are not enough Greyhawk specific illustrations of people, buildings and other things that would give the world a unique flavor.

I am hoping the same team will work on the follow ups. Perhaps all the time between articles is giving the artist time to do all the illustrations.
