I want to start my campaign in the Kharolis area. My player will play KoN and will try to save the region from a major ogre and Tanoi Invasion.

From what I read in AoM and DLCS, the region is under the control of KoN. It also mentionned Firecrab and Frozen hills and two town (Alsip and Windkeep).

I want to know if there's other source of information on that region (cultural information, what are Vash and Waw fortress, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

I'm setting my campaign in Kharolis too, but more because there isn't a lot of official information on the region and I'm free to create without stepping on anyone's toes (especially players who've read a lot of DL books and feel they have a sense of particular places).

--The map of Kharolis in the new campaign setting isn't that grand. My recommendation is give it to your players and then use the map from the site below as your DM's map. This map will give you the locations of lots of nifty things, including the ruins of Waw and Vash. If you're in need of ideas for other towns (i.e. Barter, Swiftwater, Bonfaire, etc.) I have a few. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send them your way.

--I've seen some writing on the culture and demographics of Kharolis, but none of it is cannon. I'd suggest going with your gut and creating your own material, but if you need something quick there's a very good write-up of Kharolis on the Dragonlance Nexus. Go to the page below and look for the name Terry Doetzel in the list of authors. Doetzel gives you some good demographics and a nice long history that starts just before the Cataclysm. Its a nice work-up of the region and I'm not ashamed to say that some of his ideas will show up in my campaign (much thanks to Mr. Doetzel if he's reading this).

--Beyond this I'd say, again, go with your gut. Give the region a culture and history that you think is fitting and add in whatever you think is missing. I've added one village to the region so far that's the starting point of my campaign and I'd encourage anyone to do the same.

Cheers,

Terry's article comes with map of Kharolis, you can find it in the first issue of Tobril (http://www.dragonlance.com/tobril).

Thanks for the map link. I too am starting a Kharolis campaign and will find that very useful.
