Does Point Blank, Precise, and Far shot feats work with Draconian or Draconic Breath weapons? Or maybe the Magic feats of Widen Spell, or Enlarge, or Maximize spell, or Energy Substitution? I know its not a spell, but is it magic based, or supposed to be biological? I am thinking of a Sivak fighter who specializes in his breath weapon and flying abilities and am trying to work out the details.

Precise Shot, Far Shot, etc. only work for Ranged Attacks and Breath weapon is not a Ranged Attack. So no.

Metamagic feats only work on spells. You can't up the slot of a supernatural ability. For that reason no, it doesn't work.

Savage Species has some Breath weapon based feats for you to take a look at.

Breath Weapons are supernatural meaning they are magic based. They are created by the powerful magic imbued in the creatures. Some other types of non-DnD dragons have those biological breath weapons but not these.

To further expoliate on l33t angel's post, you may only specialize in attacks that require an attack roll. Breath weapons are fire-and-forget weapons (one of the rules I've always hated in DnD. A dragon (or anything with a bw) breathes, you always take damage unless you're a rogue... ). You CAN specialize in ray and missile spells and effects, but not line, cone, or area spells and effects. That means an Aurak can specialize in his energy blasts (i think. are they fire-and-forget as well?) but not his poison gas breath.

I know I saw somewhere feats that had to do with breath weapons.

Unfortunately right now I am away from my resource library and will be fo at least another weak. When I get back to it I will look for these and then direct you you to it.

How would you do them?

honestly, not too sure. Line weapons should be an attack (like a ray) but then you have the fact they don't stop. I don't know how to do it better, and thus i stick with the rules. I just don't like the idea that only rogues can ever be fully protected against breath weapons (other than ducking behind full cover).

Line weapons usually have some sort of set range. What you could do is have the attacker make one attack roll for everyone in the line of fire and it hits anyone in range.

Hrm..... Actually, i wouldn't mind the hit-or-weaker-hit if the dc was based on an attack roll, like shotguns/blunderbusses in some systems.

Tower shields also protect you from "line" breath weapons, if you're prepared for it (since the shield can give you total cover).

actually, a tower shield would protect you from a cone breath too.
