Is this feasible?

I’m running my campaign currently in the year 402 AC. Everything that occured in the Chaos War stands, except that I never had the Gods depart (or Takhisis steal Krynn as it was explained in the War of Souls trilogy). Since the Chaos War I’ve borrowed elements of the Fifth Age that I liked, somewhere easy to incorporate others are night impossible.

I never liked the Dragon Overlords being “alien” dragons, or the terrible change they caused in Ansalon, so I never used them figuring that with the Gods around they would never allow outsider dragons to conquer their world. Now the concept of “Draconic Vampirism” and the Skull Totems I found very appealing (Even though the whole Dragon Purge reminded of Highlander, except with dragons).

I would like to add a few more challenges in my campaign, Dragon Overlord type of challenges, so I was thinking Skie could become the first of these monsters by using the “Skull Totems” as a form of ancient dragon magic he unearthed while traveling through the Gray or the Abyss. Does this seem feasible? Or was there something about the Dragon Overlords that makes this plot not viable.

NO!!!!!

j/k. :88E: Ummm.... bought the only thing i see wrong with it is that Malys was the one to discover the skull totems.. Dunno, I liked this idea of an alien dragon world. Gives epic level dragonlance people something to do.

Sure, anything's feasible.

If in your campaign, gnomes are 10 ft tall and shoot bolts of lightning from their arse, that's your call as GM.

I mean, straying from published material is fine. It makes the campaign your own. As long as the players know the changes that affect them.

As a side note, in the War of Souls, Khellendros was revealed to be an alien dragon himself, planted on the world of Krynn many years previous. Makes sense he would eventually develop the skull totem magic in the absence of Malys. I mean, he experimented with many new magics in his search for the soul of Kitiara, even developing the first dragonspawn.

So, in short, feasible.

Wouldn't that make them William Wallace, and not gnomes? ;)

Aye....and an association with Tarmak brutes could explain the blue facepaint....

You know as it's own product under the "Dragonlance" line, of course, a campaign book set in the "alien" world where these Dragon Overlords originate from would be awesome.

I often wondered about the human and elven empires that might exist in such a world, they would have to be trully powerful to hold of againts such draconic beasts. I imagine it would be a very High Fantasy setting. Imagine a world where you can play a character the can hold his own againts a standard Krynn dragon but barely survives againts the dragon in his/her world.

Craven I remember that but honestly I thought it was a little dumb. I like Skie better as a native of Krynn. Thanks for the input guys.

actually, there wouldn't be humans or elves over there. Remember malys and her surprise at these strange little fleshy things actually managing to rule krynn? she still doesn't really know what to make of humans (till she gets killed by one, that is).

I'd have the dragon homeworld as an epic expansion to dragonlance, as a possible setting or story hook, for those whose gone out, ressurected galan dracos and kicked him in the nads several times, can pin Sable down with their pinkies, and are bored.

In Skie's discussion with Mirror, he mentioned how Malys and the other dragon overlords were actually quite small by his world's standards ... *shiver*

All right, a new approached then. An epic campaign setting where you can take your 25th Level Knight of the Rose, fully armed and armored in Solamnic Plate +8 with a True Dragonlance!
