This is a new prestige class I'm designing

Shadow Mystic

Requirements:

Alignment: Any neutral.
Skills: Hide 5 ranks, Move Silently 5 ranks, Knowledge (the planes) 8 ranks
Other: the ability to cast spells (arcane or divine) of at least 2nd level

Level BAB Fort Reflex Will Special
1 +0 +0 +0 +2 Hide in Plain Sight, cloak of shadows +1
2 +1 +0 +0 +3 +1 existing spellcasting class, darkvision
3 +2 +1 +1 +3 summon shadow, cloak of shadows +2
4 +3 +1 +1 +4 +1 existing spellcasting class, shadow sustenance
5 +3 +1 +1 +4 Shadow Shift, cloak of shadows +3
6 +4 +2 +2 +5 +1 existing spellcasting class, Shadow Aura
7 +5 +2 +2 +5 cloak of shadows +4, Slippery Mind
8 +6 +2 +2 +6 +1 existing spellcasting class, Shadow Form
9 +6 +3 +3 +6 cloak of shadows +5
10 +7 +3 +3 +7 +1 existing spellcasting class, Shadow Walk

Class Features:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Shadow Mystics are proficient with the club, crossbow (light), quarterstaff, dagger, dart, sap, and short sword. Shadow Mystics are proficient with light armor but not shields.
Hide in Plain Sight (Su): The Shadow Mystic can use the Hide skill even while being observed. As long as s/he is within 10 feet of a shadow, a shadow mystic can hide him/herself from view in open without anything to actually hide behind. S/he cannot, however, hide in his/her own shadow.
Cloak of Shadows (Su): At first level the Shadow Mystic established a link with the Elemental Plane of Shadow drawing the very stuff of shadow about him/herself. This constant bonus gives the Shadow Mystic a +1 deflection bonus to AC. This bonus improves by +1 every other level up to a max of +5 at 9th level.
Summon Shadow (Su): see the shadowdancer ability of the same name.
Shadow Sustenance (Ex): At 4th level the Shadow Mystic’s link to the Plane of Shadow grows stronger and s/he no longer requires food or rest to survive. However, the shadow mystic must spend 8 hours every day within a shadow, not his/her own. In addition exposure to direct sunlight causes the shadow mystic to take 1d6 nonlethal (subdual) damage for every hour of exposure.
Shadow Shift (Sp): At 6th level the Shadow Mystic gains the ability to fade into shadows once every 1d4 rounds and reappear in another area of shadow. This in essence work as per the Dimension Door spell as cast by a character equal to the level of the shadow mystic, the only difference being that there must be shadow present at both the beginning and the end of the shift.
Shadow Aura (Su): The connection of the Shadow Mystic with the Plane of Shadow deepens further manifesting in a visible aura around the Shadow Mystic. The Shadow Mystic seems to exist in a zone of light shadow. All non-magical light within a 5 ft radius of the Shadow Mystic is dimmed and casts 10 ft. less illumination than it would under normal circumstances. Magic illumination requires a will check by the Shadow Mystic with a DC of 10+ level of the spell cast + primary ability modifier of the caster to suppress the light. This never eliminates light completely since shadow cannot exist without light, if the dimming effect the aura would negate the light source it instead casts light in only a 5 ft. radius.
In addition to the above effects the Aura hides the alignment of the Shadow Mystic from all detection spells (detect evil, detect good).
Slippery Mind (Ex): At 7th level the mind of the Shadow Mystic emulates shadow itself. See the rogue/shadowdancer ability of the same name.
Shadow Self (Sp): This ability allows the Shadow Mystic to assume the form of shadow itself. It works as per the ethereal jaunt spell as cast by a caster equal the Shadow Mystic’s level.
Shadow Walk (Sp): This ability works as the spell of the same name.

And this has what to do with DL? Not to sound offensive or anything, but there isn't really anything "DL-specific" about the class.

Some background and flavor text would help out quite a bit. It sounds cool at a glance, but I'd like to know more about how it fits into DL.

The name "Shadow Mystic" is quite misleading, since the class is also open for all arcane and divine spellcasters, not just mystics.

Yeah the name is pretty misleading. I had forgetten to include in the requirements the fact that you must have the ability to cast spells unprepared.

The class is specific to Dragonlance purely on a personal basis. I plan on taking Mystic levels as an afflicted Kender and would eventually like to take a prestige class. The three classes I looked at Assassin, Shadowdancer, and Spellfilch were not quite right for my afflicted kender. The Assassin was too evil, the spellfilch too rougeish, and I couldn't quite justify the ranks in perform(dance) required for the shadowdancer. So I decide to design my own prestige class, based more on spell casting, that was similar to the shadowdancer.

I will get around to writing some kind of background info on the class but I would like to have the abilities as balanced as possible before doing so. As to that I'm just curious if anyone thinks that his powers are too powerful/weak or if anyone has any idea for other abilities I'm open for suggestions.

On another note, sorry about the lack of formatting in the initial post.
