After reading through the Mariner class, and then reading about the city of Flotsam and the sidebar on Lord Toede (formally fewmaster), I've come to the conclusion that it would be fantastic to base a campaign on a voyage to discover the Fountain of Youth. Of course, I would definately have to make that sound more Krynnish. I could see Lord Toede almost like the pirate at the beginning of Treasure Island, only not dying (well, coming back at least), leaving a map...maybe as a way to fool the players into starting their voyage.

I figure it would be an awesome way to introduce players to dragonlance, as they would then be sailing all over it, discovering and exploring all the exciting places.

What do you think of that?

It's also a perfect way to introduce them to the Dragonlance minotaurs, what with the empire-building and pirating and all. ;)

Yes. Perhaps the item they seek is of Minotaur make...Minotaurs who do not want it found.

Hrmmm How about this

A Fountain of Youth that only works on NON Greygem Chaos forged races. The races that can travel through time without altering the course of it. The original races.

So it would only work for Humans, Elves, and Ogres (and Irda.

Gnomes, Dwarves, Kender, Draconians, Goblinoids, Minotaur, etc etc... it just doesn't work on. I don't know why... it just doesn't.

Here's the kicker... the fountain is located on one of the Blood Sea Isles... Perhaps on Karthay which holds the highest mountain in the world and is largely unexplored, who knows what terrors they might stumble across... or maybe on one of the main Minotaur isles, Kothas or Mithas... the pool doesn't even have to be hidden it could be Minotaur use it... are uneffected by it, and are completely unaware of it's power... Though for the PCs to get to it'd be nearly suicidal with all those Minos around.

hmmm maybe I'll run my Players through this after they deal witht he problems they already have.

The only problem there is that the entire point to finding the Fountain is to help Lord Toede to regain his youth...and he's a Hobgoblin. Of course, it would be fun to send the entire ship on a wild goose chase. Boy would Lord Toede be mad when everyone who went is all young and happy, and he still isn't.

Hey...Draconians aren't Greygem races. Wouldn't they not be able to affect time too?

Not sure, but Par-salain had Draconians pencilled in among the forbidden races when Caramon, Tas, and Crysania went to the Wayreth Tower. Its possible he only did that because their very presence in a time before they were created, if not dismissed as a Kender Tale, would affect history, simply because of people reactions. I tend to treat the grey gem races as magically altered versions of the original races, so that would put the Dracoonians under the same guidelines.

Ahhh you got me, they aren't, and neither are Gnomes actually came before the Greygem, but they aren't "Natural" they aren't the races that "should be". According to the lore anyway
