Hey Darkwarrior, looking for info on everybody’s favorite Death Knight?

Lord Soth was included in the original Black and Red Ravenloft boxed sets (Domains and Denizens). He was also included in the hardback Domains of Dread for 2E, but has not appeared in any 3E Ravenloft products (he’s alluded to, but never mentioned by name).

He has his own adventure titled “When Black Roses Bloom” (which is SO ill and I HIGHLY recommend you cop it) and is also included in a few novels (Knight Of The Black Rose details his arrival in Ravenloft, and Spectre of the Black Rose details his “escape” from Ravenloft). This former Darklord of Sithicus can also be found in a short story from Tales of Terror (Rigors of the Game is the title, I believe).

So as far as Soth’s adventures in Ravenloft, consider reading Knight of the Black Rose first, followed by the 2E adventure module When Black Roses Bloom. Then wrap it all up by reading Spectre, and see why he’s no longer a prisoner in the Dread Realms.

Peace, Darkwarrior!

...another request for Soth info?

Like many figures from 2ndEd Ravenloft he was lifted from another (then) TSR setting. Originally he came from Krynn where he was their anti-paladin/death knight and prominent villian in the Dragon Lance Saga. His crimes are too legion to fully list and describe but most improtantly from a RL point of view he betrayed his wife and son - failing to save them from disaster. He also lusted after a another dragon lord named Kitiarra, failing to capture her soul when she died. He became the ruler of Sithicus.

Ultimately he refused redemption and embraced his past & his sins breaking the lands hold on him and allowing him to walk free of the mists!!! Yikes! So far as I know the *ONLY* darklord (short of a demigod) ever to escape the mists clutches.

He was later destroyed on Krynn by their evil draconic goddess.

I'm sure other have choice tidbits to share of a long and epic storry. I am not quite as much a fan of module and novels as MSD but do agree that they all had plenty of potential to develop. In particular the second novel was among the best produces in the RL line.
