Does anyone know if there is any official content with a strong reference to The Egg of Coot? Much appreciated

No, nothing more than a mention here and there. Cannonfire or Oerth Journal (I can't remember which) has a good write up on Blackmoor however, with a three to four paragraph write up on "the Coot"

I never thought this should be included in the game anyways, it was such an obvious shot at E. Gary Gygax. Calling EGG an old coot should not be allowed in his own setting, no matter who owns the rights. Now in Blackmoor setting not in greyhawk, its rather hilarious.

It's not a shot at Gary Gygax.
It's a shot at a guy who owned a game store who was a hard core miniatures gamer, and who despised "upstart role-players". Sort of the way all good role-players mocked those goofy LARPers and CCGers when they came on the scene.
(That last sentence would qualify as sarcasm just in case anyone isn't sure.)

Seems Dave Arneson has a different opinon on the matter than you do Sam. Here is his posts on The Egg of Coot and its ego.

Thats a better copy to read than this, but heres a link to another copy of it.

That is the link to a copy of the Oerth Journal article with the Egg of Coot description towards the bottom.

I'd ignore the Egg of Coot, completely. It's a shameless prank bereft of any real campaign or gaming value. Mystara has some cool items posted, and it has some strange, irreverant items posted.

Without blasting anyone, I'd the the EoC is a tired joke best ignored.

I'm sure he does Ghent.
But considering that the Blackmoor campaign and the Egg of Coot were created before the "conflict", it would seem like a bit of retrofitting wouldn't you say?
Not that it really matters.
