By popular demand, I'll be working on character blocks for some Companions of the Lance and posting them on the DL websites. I'll be posting them at 3 different stages in a fashion not unlike the NPC Closeup section of Wizards' website.

The planned stages for most Companions (exceptions exist in each case) are:
Pre-Chronicles: Approximately 5th level.
Post-Chronicles and/or Pre-Legends: Approximately 12th level.
Pre-Chaos-War: Case-by-case basis, but probably 14th level or thereabouts.

Please post your opinion on preferred character levels for these different stages, as well as any additional stages you'd want to see covered.

Disclaimers: Very few people (if any) will achieve epic levels. Tas might deserve 6 character blocks because he's been through everything, but he's probably not going to get them. In addition, I hope that we can refrain from arguments about levels and just post our opinions.

Thanks!

I have statistics for all of the Companions at 5th level already, but haven't posted them anywhere as yet. I can forward these to you if you'd like. They were developed to use as pregens for playing through the classic modules in 3rd edition, but I won't be continuing my work on those module conversions at this time.

Cheers,
Cam

You forgot the obligatory note that the above comment excludes Raistlin.

I've always used the statistics given in the Tales of The Lance boxed set for companions at the start of the WoTL. (Coverted to 3e of course)

Raistlin must be a Wizard 20/Black Robe 10(former Red Robe...7?)/Archmage 5. I think that'll be enough. If not, then add War Wizard, I guess.

I think that Pre-Chronicles Tanis should be a Ranger 3(taking the Archery Combat Style)/Fighter 2. I think that this really fits Tanis better than a straight Fighter.

Riverwind shouldn't be a pure Ranger...I'v been thinking about maybe Barbarian 1/Fighter 2/Ranger 2, improving FIghter and RAnger levels alternately.

Post-Legends Caramon definately needs levels in Gladiator.

I think Tas is okay as a pure Rogue, unless some sort of Handler PrC comes out in a raceial book.

I actually saw a write up of FLint that gave him a level in Expert. That could be interesting, but I'd make him a level 6 character to start with...Expert 2/Fighter 4, that way he's not weaker than everybody else.

I htink that Sturm shoudl start out as a level 5 in my Knight core class, which I'll be re-posting soon, as I never got any feedback on it. Keep in mind that it is not a Knight of Solamnia class, just generic knight.
