Lets clone a very cool post from another part of the boards, shall we?

Suddently, you find yourself in some area of the Flanaess (you figure it by the two moons, or maybe you're in the bone road to Dorakaa , or whatever); with the knowledge you have about this world, what would you do? Where would you go?

(Consider yourself a lvl 1 Expert)

Well, firstly I'd go slap that ***** Yolande for staying out of the wars, become a gnome-slayer by training with Turrosh, then I'd go boink Jallarzi and get buddy-buddy with Nerof by telling him all the stuff I know about his enemies... for a lord's title, domain and treasury of course

Knowledge in such a universe would be a powerful thing; and even more powerful if you know who to sell it to :D

I would head for Iuz's empire in an effort to get to Dorakka to enlist in the Old One's army. I would expend all of my energy advocating a strengthening of the empire's nascent, far-flung perimeter, with a threatening posture north of Nyrond. I would also advocate the development of contingency plans in case the perimeter is breached somewhere - creating traps, movement feints, lanes of approach, counter-mobility, etc.

Perhaps a daring naval raid is in order for the Old One. Enlisting the Barbarian tribes in the northeast and the leadership of the Pomarj will be valuable. With their help, or non-interference, a well developed viking-style thrust up the Wooly Bay and into Greyhawk City would be truly humbling for the arrogant city. The empire could no doubtedly use a fresh infusion of riches from the Free City's coffers. And a successful in-and-out raid on Greyhawk City can generate enormous politcal and military capital.

While the above is a lot of dreaming, at least serving in the Black Armies would be nice. Exerting effort to keep the evil factions from destroying each other, managing egos and maintaining readiness would be a top goal. Maybe I could rise to a company or battalion level of command.

And let's not forget the salt...

I agree, I would head to Greyhawk City right quick, and then live up the night life in a big city, where for a few gold, any disease can be cured.

I would stay away from the power groups, really. If you help the good guys too much, someone else (from the same 'good guys' side) will kill you; if you try to help the bad guys, you may die before you even learn their language (and how you will show them that you have new technologies or whatever...).

I would stay in some village, learning their language while doing anything to survive (woodcutting, cooking, etc); that, if the commoners dosent burn me. Then, i would move to some large city, and use my skills to make money ("Wanna learn an alien language?" or "eat pizza's mc burger at Green dragon Inn!" or "Here, i think youll like this machine gun more than your repeating xbow"...) ; something small like that. Hell, i could even try to survive as a bard.

Maybe i can find a cool elf chick and start my little half elf clan .

If i wanted to do something big, i would give away the name of every scarlet brotherhood member possible thought the flanaess. But im coward .

Yeah, the thread I started in the FR file is doing quite well. ;)

Hmmm...first of all, I would be a Dedicated Hero lvl 1...:D

Anyways, I would definitely get my rear over to The Free City of Greyhawk...then turn my knowledge into some power and wealth.

I would try to locate a wizard. My strongest point is my intelligence, my physical stats are not very impressive. So I would try to find someone who can teach me magic. And then I plan to surpass the circle of eight's power in a few years. And I would make sure to get a lot of spells with my name in it.
Like for example: "VanderMeer's Physical Enhancer"
And of course some magic items, like "VanderMeer's Goggles of x-ray vision"

Forget Mordenkainen, VanderMeer is here! :D

Funny that you should mention this...that's exactly what happened to this character....thrust into the World of Oerth from Middle-Ages England, thus the name; de Shrewton.

Landed within a stone circle in the Gnarley Forest after a sudden thunderstorm blew up while I was on patrol just outside Shrewton. A bolt of lightning hit me and next thing I knew, I woke up naked in the middle of this forest!

Actually had a full story going on the NWNGHA Forums before the board got wiped. I never did rewrite the story. Mayhaps I will recount the tale someday.
