we've been playing the return to the temple of elemental evil. and every kinda gett's the feeling they're in the big world with no idea of what's going on. we had to take a trip to verbobonc and i decided that my character will go to the library and find all the history of the temple and hommlet that he can.

so does anyone have any background info. i know iuz some how relates to the temple. we've found robes with the burning eye symbol that i'm pretty sure is the symbol of Iuz. what important events should i be aware of.

Go with what works, if you believe Iuz has something to do with the temple then roll with it. In any event the temple itself will reveil things as long as your party survives that is.

In the beginning of the module there's a history, just ask your DM to write something up for you to find from that, or photocopy the whole thing for you.

Ask your DM what your character knows. It may involve making some kind of Knowledge check, or he/she may just tell you. Particularly if your characters grew up in the area, I would expect them to know something of the history.

See pg 4 of the T1 - T4 SuperModule from TSR (pre-WotC) 1987.

Details out the history of Hommlet, how it was formed, etc. Maybe your DM can write up a tome "History of the Kron Hills" or something like that, based on this information.

If you don't have the module you can d/l from WotC's download partner SVGames and it's .pdf for under $5!
