Im surprised Oct. is almost over and no one has posted a review of the new GW HB.
I can't even find any online reviews of it, so is it going to silently go in the night like most unsuccessful RPGs?

I'd like o hear some pros and cons before I buy myself a copy and replace my prized 4th ed. GW!

THumbs up to White Wolf who took the intitative to get us a brand new spanking GW though! Shows how OGL works to everyone's favor.

Well, you might want to give people a few days to at least read it. Because of a couple of last minute hitches, it didn't hit the stores until Monday of this week. A few people have had their preorders arrive, but I'm not even sure if it's available in games stores yet.

Heck, my author's copies haven't even arrived yet either.

Give it another couple of weeks before you start putting the kibosh on it. Early responses in several forums from people who have snagged the book early is extremely positive.

Ummm, no. There is no OGL material in Gamma World. It was published under licence from WotC. If you want to use any of the stuff in GW in your own material, you'd have to get explicit permission from WotC first (and probably WW as well).

cheers

Well Im gonna order mine then, I can't wait sounds sweet.
THough changes might alienate a few people: no more radiation-switch to biogenetics, more concrete sci fi feel-compared to the slight humor side, but it should look fine I hope.:88E:

Really so the d20 system isnt OGL? Hmmm always thought it was.
Since thats what Gamma World is based off... d20 modern/3.5
Like Attributes, Fighting System, Attacks of Opportunity, etc...
So what is OGL then? Just wondering

Thanks for the heads up

NO.

I will not give credit to White Wolf other than their responsibility of printing, bounding, and shipping the books to retailers.

I will give major props to the game designers: Bruce Baugh and the folks at Sword & Sorcery Studio. They're the ones who put the thoughts to words.

It's based on the d20 Modern Core Rulebook material, NOT from the Modern System Reference Document.

Sword & Sorcery Studio have a different licensing agreement with Wizards regarding Wizards-owned IP (Gamma World) and the copyrighted material in d20 Modern Core Rulebook, so they're not using the available royalty-free licenses.

So they paid for the Setting, I see now, makes sense now.

But still you gotta give some thumbs up to White Wolf for paying for the liscense then.
Not taking anything away from Bruce Baugh and the Swords&Sorcery Studio for bringing back one of the more original RPG settings and giving it a make up for the 21st Century.

Now they didnt keep the idea of aliens causing the war like in Alternity? I hated that idea!

Hopefully this board gets a little more active eh?

My FLGS ordered it for me, but he won't get it until FRIDAY! Arrrgg! Now I have to buy more paper towels to soak up all my drool from anticipation!! :D

Now, once I get it, I'm going to have to pull all the cobwebs off of my old GW site and start some major overhauls! ::drool again::

Correction: Sword & Sorcery paid for the licensing agreement to publish Gamma World

The only thing I give props to White Wolf is that they're responsible for printing those fine material into the final product. Nothing more.

Well, Hurrah to those who put this wonderful, big, green thing together!

And...I have yet to see it in any stores out here. Hey, Bruce, did they do a limited release before they did a full release. I have checked Hastings, B Daltons, and B and N. No luck so far. Sigh.
I think it's my deoderant.

HI, Ranger Reg. Watch out for those RABBITS.:D

I've been looking for it as well and haven't found it. Neither Borders nor Waldenbooks have it here. I may have to end up ordering it from the local comic store.

You may want to check on RPG.net Review Section. You may have to do a search for the review article as it was done the past week or so.

It is possible that there is a review posted on EN World web site.

I believe there is one on EN World or a link to it elsewhere on it.
