Right.

The quasielemental plane of ash has that rather interesting form of damage, 'heat drain'.

In 2e, it caused:
* 2d6 damage/turn to non-magically protected creatures and objects, including those naturally immune to cold

* 1HD damage/round to creatures from Fire, Smoke, Magma, or that are otherwise accustomed to heat.

Any thoughts on converting this to 3e? (Perhaps the good, evil, or whatever bloods at Planewalker have an 'official' answer?)

I think the most important thing to do is to keep it so that it pierces natural energy resistance. Is that really 1 HD/round for heat accustomed creatures? or did you mean 1 hp? Cause all I have to say is wow if it taking off a hit die per minute. That would tear through a 2e effreeti in less time than you could effectively make 3 wishes.

Aye. The reason I'm inquiring, at least at the moment, is because I'm producing some new outsiders which utilize an elemental plane, and both energy planes, giving them a rather nasty array of tricks.. in the case of the 'fire polar', that includes an 'ash touch'... obviously not as powerful as being in the plane, but, still, OUCH.

And yeah, 1HD/round. I think it's supposed to be level drain that only effects fire-based creatures. -Nasty- fricking plane. I love it.

Sadly I don't know either, but I would be very interested in the answer (as well as some info on the other quasielemental planes).
