Hello, people.

Quite some time ago, athas.org released some documents that mentioned a class called "wastelander". I've been unable to find older threads on the subject, so I need to ask you guys: what was this class about and why was it dropped?

My questions are mostly for the athas.org staff, but input from anyone will be greatly apreciated.

To be honest, what triggered my curiosity is the fact that I've been tinkering with the idea of a NPC class for DS that had some rangerlike abilities... and the name wastelander sprang to mind.

Wastelander is a feat in DS3.5.

Indeed. Funny, I hadn't noticed it before.

Still, my interest lie on the wastelander class, not the feat. It only appears in ancient athas.org stuff. Actually I only recall it being mentioned on a preview file of the half-giant monster class, as one of the three favored classes for the Pterran and the Kreen (the other two being Pterran and Druid for the Pterran and Thri-Kreen and Druid for the Kreen).

I assume the idea for the class eventually resurfaced in the form of this feat...

It was an initial name for a reworked version of the Ranger class. Nowadays, it is simply a term used to describe those who live "in the wastes" ... that is, rangers, druids, brutes, some psions ... anyone who tends to live in the wilderness without even the meager support of a permanant village or large tribe.

Ah, so it was like the soldier. Now I understand.

Hey, thanks, Flip and Jon, for taking the time from your busy schedules to satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks.

Hey, thanks, Flip and Jon, for taking the time from your busy schedules to satisfy my curiosity.

Comes with the oracle job description. Though, to live up to the mysterious oracular ways, I ocassionaly have to *not* answer.
