Anyone care to help me out in identifying some good candidates for Exalted status?

What qualifies as Exalted status? I haven't picked up the BoED yet, so I have no idea, but I may be able to add a few names if I know what the requirements are.

Gary Gygax for creating Greyhawk and the D&D game. Erik Mona for keeping the dream alive. Lastly in my book Carl Sargent for taking something drastically blown out of proportion and making sense of it all.

I known you were talking about NPC's in GH but to tell you the truth if you decide to use the rules in the BoED. Make the Exhalted ones few and far between each other. I think the Canon Hazen should qualify as one though. But he should or could be dead by now. So maybe the title passes on too King Belvor but both should not hold this title at the same time.

Think along the lines of those individuals which have brought about a great amount of good. If their is an evil equivalent remember Iuz is a god and one of his servants should be exhalted and not he.

Then another way one might acheive this status is to reunite a lost kingdom or something along those lines. In the end the decision is up to you it's your campaign just have fun with it.

I'm taking a guess here, having not seen the Book of Exalted Deeds, but I assume that an "exalted" character just means they are a sort of noteworthy good guy?

In that case:

Cobb Darg
Melf Brightflame
Tenser
Jallarzi
Prince Corond of Ulek
Canon Hazen (as mentioned previously)
St. Cuthbert and Mayaheine (if you run a "historical flanaess" campaign where these two haven't attained divinity yet)

There's not a whole lot. The Greyhawk camnpaign has always assumed the PCs would fill these epic hero roles, not the NPCs.

Yeah, so far I agree with Canon Hazen being an Exhalted individual. He may even qualify for Saint status too. IMHO.

And Delglath Exalted? That may cause a schism of some sort...

:D

Hmph! Delglath is the Chosen of Nerull on Oerth! He CREATES artifacts! He has a NATION of undead and a horde of Nerullian clerics at his command, not to mention four castles of a magical nature.

The only schism being created is the one He creates in the very fabric of existance with the power of His will :D

In canon, what artifact has Delglath the Undying created?

The Mace and Talisman of Krevell and the Helm and Wand of Lynerden the Spinner predate the megalomanical animus-priest of Nerull the Reaper. See Carl Sargent, Ivid the Undying, 59 (1995, 1996) (PDF version formatted ????).

Talisman of Ultimate Evil which he used a piece of the Causeway of Fiends to create.

Definately Hazen. Although, as suggested above, he would be a good candidate for saint.

Other than that, I can't think of other big-name npc's. Most of them seem willing to walk a grey line if need be. I think you would be much more likely to stumble upon some backwater priest of pelor in a small village with an exalted feat or two, but it should still be rare.
