I was interested in knowing which forum, out of here and the Ravenloft board at the WW site you like most. For me, its this one. Well, its blue and all, but its a lot easier to read than the other one. What do you think? It's not a choice of a new "official" forum, I'm just curious about popular opinion.

This is much better than that on the Sword & Sorcery Page, but i lacks the Athmosphere (colors & stuff) and it's very small.

The best would be if fans of the karagatane try to make a new one by themselves perhaps.

This one is certainly laid out better.

While the colour scheme here blows goats (heh, gettit?) compared to WW/S&S this place in general (Wizards.COMmunity) does have more options for posting.
D&D and the other worlds and core books. Definetly more posting oportunities, plus places for role playing in general. I haven't fully explored yet, there's a lot of MBs here.

MBs?

Anyway, I like this board better than S&S. Easier to read and more options. For example, having your name on the side with an avatar is easier to indentify than having a name up above with time and date posted etc.

MB=Message Boards.
I guess forums would have been a better word choice.
And the name by side w/ avatar is more traditional.

I'm tending to agree with just about everything that's said here...

This board's very easy to navigate and has tons of good options, but lacks in style.

S&S's board is very nicely styled with red and black, but doesn't have anywhere near as many options, and the layout is lacking.

I'm tinkering around with HTML again - seeing if I could do something for starting a new site. No guarantee's, as I'm a full time student with very little time - but I'd definitely like to support anybody that makes one. As said before - this one lacks the atmosphere, while the other one . . . well, it's just not as nice looking even . . .

Well I've noticed the colour scheme actually varies for some boards. Such as the d20 board for Call of Cthulhu (a green and white one).

So perhaps if this board gets popular enough a WizO will decide to contact those upstairs and change this theme to a darker one.

As for other people setting up boards, I'll hold off joining any new ones until a new 'official site' is announced, other wise I see a large split of the community occuring. As each one goes to a different board.

i think this one is certainly way better, much more user friendly. i was just discussing this with a friend and we thought that if we had such a ravenloftian environment to design, we'd make it black and white, with grayish frames, just like the interior design of current ravenloft products...

my preference is definately for these message boards instead of the more primitive sword and sorcery boards. Those these boards may offer too many options.

I think the problem at the moment is that the users are spreading out at mandy diffrent places. We should try to start one really great project and not go to small places kindly builded up for us refugees.

The best would be to take one place to plan a project for all that are intrested in doing a new ravenloft hq, but i am afraid that this is hard to organize.

I dunno. I see a little spread as only natural. Our little hidey-hole is no more, but the Web is large indeed...

I have to say that this forum is more user-friendly than WW's site. It just lacks a little of the atmos-fear that SotK had. *sigh* Still, not too bad.

Scripio's site is shaping up pretty nicely, as well.

I'd rank them:
1. Scipio's site (I grant you, I'm a little biased)
2. here
3. S&S boards.

Of course, none of them quite match the original....

I like the layout of Secrets of the Kargatane (perhaps partly because of the time spent there), they're a little easier on the eyes (and the colors suit the setting more), but this place isn't really all that different. I mean, it's a message board, and it serves its purpose just fine. You drop a message, and pick it up at some other time...

And although this is a little off-topic, when it comes to us (Ravenloft supporters/fans) representin the setting (through reviews and such), what better place to stand up for the setting than at Wizards? Here we can speak our say just fine, and who knows?, maybe the suits at homebase will finally realize that there is a half-sized fanbase for the setting that they pretty much gave up on.

It can't hurt our collective cause (setting continuity/funding) by staging a forum in HQ's backyard.

I just find it a little odd that the people with the licence aren't really giving us the (proper) space to "play" in...the one set up is far from user-friendly. Aside from other things.

But cest la vie, non?

And as much as I'll surf the various "domains" of Ravenloft here in/on the internet, I don't really feel the need to write out my gigs elsewhere. This place is catered enough. Besides, maybe we can even turn some of the other gamers on to Ravenloft...christ, there's enough of 'em floatin' around here.

It's just too bad there's that whole "E for Everyone" thing that comes with the place.

~sigh~

SotK was many things, but I gotta say, it was a place that ultimately allowed you to say your say...uncut and unedited.

But yesterdays really got nothin to do with Today.

'Nuff said.

Soon the new FOS site will have a message board where we can go...

I like Scipio's site, it looks almost exactly like the Malodorous Goat Tavern.
