Dr Illhousen's clinic for the emotionally distressed

Hello,

My name is Dr Illhousen. In the past 24 hours, I've had a resurgence of patients suffering from withdrawal syndromes similar to those found in heavy drug addicts in Richemulot and Darkon. Their speech is highly incoherent (it always was, some Emeritus will say) and they show all symptoms of being emotionally highly unstable persons.

The first stage is denial:

"What ? What ?? It's not true ! It's a joke ! But it's not April's Fools Day today ? Why did They made that mistake ? And we can't even convincingly argue with Hackard on the different time zones that YESTERDAY was April's 1st ! What are they thinking ! OK, Ryan will say it's a joke, I'll wait 'till midnight and it will be OK …"

The second stage is violence:

"They can't do that to us ! We've been to this site for an hour a day for so many years ! What do you tell me ? Get a life !?! Why ? … These Vallaki monsters ! I will hunt them and make them ate their beloved puddle with spicy tasmanian jalapeno sauce ! ! ! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah !!!!"

The third stage is negotiation:

"Wait ! Don't pull the plug ! We'll be nice ! We'll stop bugging Azalin with stupid trivia ! We'll scratch Ryven's back ! We'll send Stu enough money so he can buy the summer home on the French Riviera he saw in his wedding trip, the one next to Buffy and Bono ! I'll give him free private French lessons ! We'll walk the dog when he's away !"

The last stage is acceptation :

" … "

Conclusion:

These patients are very dangerous and should quickly be send to Vlad Drakov for training.

Oh well, we'll really miss the place. Many good souvenirs come to mind with this site. That is where I started to write for the community fans. They gave me my first chance for an article in the BoS, before I founded the USS netbook with Nathan.

I don't know for the others but that was really violent (for having no better word to express my thoughts) to do it the way it was done, i.e. an eight hour notice is very short notice to cut the link. But perhaps it was the best way, time will tell ?

Cermak's last post "Well, this is the end, the dark heart of Ravenloft on the net isn't beating anymore" was read with difficulties because I had to wipe my eyes at this point: midnight, when it ended. And I bitterly smiled to the "Of course, Ryven isn't funny, he's dead" comment by JWM.

Thank you guys it was a very cool and special hanging place you had down there in Vallaki. Many thanks for the parting gifts, we'll read these with love. I removed today from "My favorites" the direct link to the K Yabb discussion boards, that felt really odd.

'Guess here is the place to gather for the moment, but it feel so small !

The Fraternity of Shadows (the USS and QtR team have merged, if you weren't on the K boards yesterday night) is discussing ways to get our own fan made discussion boards site to try to replace the Kargatane's (if that can ever be done …).

We'll keep you posted.

Regards,

Joël

It'll be an exciting time, for sure.

It was really kinda sad--I missed most of the proceedings 'cause I had to move yesterday...

Bummer.

If you have a transcript of the proceedings I'd love to see it, Gotten.

Same here, I had to miss the whole thing because I was hosting a Halloween party and couldn't break away until 1:00 this afternoon.

If I can help in any way, let me know- my skills are limited to legbreaking, whining, and grovelling, but you never know. ;)

I do not have a transcript.

It was in fact quiet in the last two hours.

There was a few poignant post (frandelgearslip glued to his computer at his school, alone in the cold lab room, "but not wanting to be anywhere else tonight"), and people saying goodbye to the Galen saga, people saying how the site improved their own games, etc.

The K where not really present on the board, except to prank us with the "revelation of azalin in one hour", to have Ryven pop in later and say he was Azalin. Hackard said they were doing their own wake privately.

Anyway, that was mostly it.

Sad and abrupt ending, IMHO.

Yeah, I was struck by the heartlessness too, I came in time for the announcement, but had to go to worked. I had hoped to look over the stuff that had been said when I got home at 7 AM, but then, it was all gone!

This isn't what I implied, by the way. I just said it was quite sad (well, for me at least).

I'm not sure if its true the K weren't present. We've had more posts from the Kargatane that evening than the entire few months before. Every member (except Wyatt) made his own goodbye. Many answered questions that were directed to them. I really appreciated that.

It was more of a figure of speech than any real resentment on my part. I was saddened, but not irritated, if you know what I mean...

Can't believe I missed it, I went on late at about 1130 board time and didn't see anyone else there so left. Kind of wish I'd checked the boards more closely. Look forward to the new site though, keep me posted
