I know what the box set says about psionics: that it's purely optional, and won't be supported in official material. This tends to lump Aebrynis into the same category as Krynn: a "no-psionics" world, dominated by magic and magic alone.

But the box set clearly states if you want to include psionics in your Birthright campaigns, feel free. So this leads me to my question: do you use psionics in your BR campaigns? If so, are there "psionic realm manifestations" that psion regents can tap? Is psionics something only scions can tap, thus making it a different form of true magic? Would one of the established Cerilian gods take psionics under his portfolio?

As far as I'm concerned, psionics just don't fit the "feel" of Birthright, so I don't use 'em there...

I never used psionics in BR. I mean why have blood abilities, realm magic and psionics? Way too much power floating around. Besides the introduction of psionics would, IMO, diminish the significance of blood abilities and being blooded in general.

I have considered using psionics in BirthRight (or similar settings), but only the purely mental psionics, if you know what I mean: Nothing with a physical manifestation. Such powers could be included as a form of magic.

Be careful when making a tie between psionics and magic. Magic in BR is very specifically defined. That is arcane magic is. Lesser and greater magic specifically. In order to use greater magic one must either be blooded or have elven blood. If psionics are considered lesser magics, then would magicians be able to use them - since they are the masters of lesser magic. Just some thoughts on magic as a whole in BR, it is pretty significant issue though.

You know you might be better off making the psionics 'new' blood abilities if you really wanted to include them into the setting. It would be an esier tranisition, far better, IMO, than introducing psi-classes which has another whole level of difficulty associated with its implementation.

I have, I had a PC who wanted to play a psion guild regent. He ended up becoming an awnshegh, killing the Chimaera (or at least appearing to, she later returned) and allying himself with the gorgon. Much fun was had by all

The way I run psions and psychic warriors is that you must have a Great or True bloodline to be a psion or psychic warrior; psionics is the magic of the mind of the gods, and thus, only those with deep connections to the old gods can learn it.

Does this mean the Gorgon could learn psionics? Sure; but does it mean he will? Of course not. In my Cerilia, there are exactly three psions and about a dozen psychic warriors throughout history. Psionics is rare beyond belief, and most Cerilians, be they scions or awnsheghlin, are not even aware it exists.
