Smurf (Monstrous Manual entry) CLIMATE/TERRAIN: Any/forest FREQUENCY: Rare ORGANIZATION: Tribal ACTIVITY CYCLE: Any DIET: Herbivorous INTELLIGENCE: Average/Very (8-12) TREASURE: R, S, T ALIGNMENT: Lawful/Neutral Good NO. APPEARING: 1-6 ARMOR CLASS: 4 MOVEMENT: 12 HIT DICE: 1/2 + 1 THAC0: 20 NO. OF ATTACKS: (as per weapon) DAMAGE/ATTACK: (as per weapon) SPECIAL ATTACKS: See below SPECIAL DEFENSES: See below MAGIC RESISTANCE: 5% SIZE: T (4"- 1' tall) MORALE: 5 or 13 XP VALUE: 15 Appearance: These small blue humanoid creatures wear only pants, shoes, and hats. They have a small round tail looking about like thee nose at the base of there back. There would appear to be nothing more than a blue rat walking upright when/if spotted. Also note that smurfs have the ability to change size at will. Not sure if this ability is enabled at the choice of the smurf or just randomly changing size, but all smurfs will be the same height whatever it may be at the time. Combat: When spotted or confronted these creatures will normally scatter in all directions to escape. If cornered they will usually ambush their prey with a trap that will allow them to further evade capture and escape. If captured the rest of the tribe will effect rescue of its comrades. Use of local animals to aid them in combat, or escape as it were is common to the Smurfs. These animals are nor herded, but rather asked for their assitance in return for things the smurfs can provide later such as stored food reserves in inclimate weather situations like draughts, or heavy winters. When encountered in their village they will use whatever implements available such as rocks, scythes, hoes, hammers, sometimes maybe a sword, or anything else with which to deter attackers until they can escape. (Damage done by these weapons is treated as a regular size weapon but at one third damage) Also the leader is capable of utilizing magic spells at 12th level. Habitat/Society: The Smurfs live in communities of 101-110 members. Once every blue moon another is created by magical means, as only ONE female of the species is known to exist. They normally live by themselves and with their environment, without outsiders knowledge. However, small groups have been known to explore other populated areas to learn what exists around them. They are led by a sole individual who guides the tribe in day-to-day activities. This leader, called Papa; will be in dominance of ALL actions of the rest of the tribe and they will follow his instructions willingly. Celebrations are had often to rejoice in the bounties of the environment in which they live and to pay homage to it. Each smurf is unique in one ability that it excells at above each of the rest. Ecology: Smurfs use the surrounding materials to build their city, and farm the various foods they need or gather other supplies from their surroundings. Such as building materials, clothing, and food sources they are unable to cultivate. Also building dams, and irrigation they can cause rivers to slightly alter course and be diverted for their own use. The smurfs will store food for use at later times of the year when it wont grow, and often have a bit more than enough to suppliments their society. They also interact with native creatures of their environment helping the injured animals, and in return the animals help them in their farming and combat when needed. Smurfs are magical in nature and add to potentcy of a vast number of potions. Also is it said that with 6 smurfs one is able to transform them into gold, however this spell has been lost to time and research into it has yet yeilded any results IF anyone has even caught enough smurfs to try. Variants: (none known) Notes: Smurfs are known to live longer than 542 years. They speak their own language which include the word "smurf" to replace various other words, usually adjectives, adverbs, and verbs; and sometimes even nouns. "this is a very smurfy day." "today i smurfed the dishes after breakfast." -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 07-14-07 09:51 PM Thread Title : Re: new monsters for older editions. I had some chaotic and destructive little air elementals I called Thunderlings. Somewhere in a huge stack of spiral notebooks are the stats. I also was using some rat-humans I called Skavs before I ever heard of the Skaven (I don't recall what game they're from. Warhammer? HeroQuest?). Again, they're somewhere in that stack of spirals, sigh! When I find them, I'll post the stats. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Orion72 Date : 07-18-07 02:35 PM Thread Title : Re: new monsters for older editions. I'm in the process of statting up the Drakona from Mage Knight for a Basic campaign. If it looks good, I'll probably end up statting all of my otherwise usless MK minis. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Shiftkitty Date : 07-18-07 03:07 PM Thread Title : Re: new monsters for older editions. Too bad MK isn't to scale with D&D Minis. I can get away with the monsters, but the humanoids are just too big. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 5] Author : shadzar Date : 07-18-07 11:14 PM Thread Title : Re: new monsters for older editions.
