I was very disheartened to learn of the demise of the Kargatane website. I often used it as a reference and a starting point to find other ravenloft resources on the web.

I feel that at best, there is very few decent ravenloft websites left. So instead of b!tching about it, I have endeavoured to do something about it.

I present to you:

Ravenloft Renaissance

My contribution to the ravenloft community. I'd appreciate it if webmasters will link my site, as I don't quite know how to get it into the search engines.

Feedback is welcome here, along with suggestions, etc.

The goal of the project is to focus on the 'renaissance' domains in ravenloft. I have some qualms about calling it 'renaissance' that is addressed in the site, but yeah, have a look. I'm proud of it so far. It's mostly completed.

First of all - kill the blinking links. They annoy.

Also, there's very little of actual content. I suspect that it should come with time, but still - currently it reads as an advertisement brochure.

The DM section is a bit better content-wise, but you should check it for typos and Gamberson has its cost and price swapped.

When you have an empty section, delete it. There is no use of putting in just thematic text or it will read as some of the bad filler paragraphs from the RL DMG.

Then there's a nasty 404 at adventures, DM tips.

And I have a headache from the blinking.

Yep, thanks for the tips, I've sorted out everything you've mentioned, except for maybe the spelling.

Blinking links are gone, armour's fixed. Placeholders are in (I know you said no, but it requires ALOT of editing to take them out) for domains, and there should be no more 404s.

Alot more information in there too.

And I think I'm the first also to have:

Ravenloft 3.5 Edition Character Sheet (including fear/horror/madness checks and hypnotism)

and

Compilation of all Ravenloft feats, along with 3.5 feats, all in one convenient reference

Nice start. Certainly more effort than I've put forth.

Kudos!

It's a good looking site, particularly the armor section. I hope you do well with it. I do feel obligated, however, to warn you that the compilation of Ravenloft feats file (or section? Currently a broken link) is copyrighted, non-open material. There's nothing wrong with creating a file like that for your own use (I have an extensive one myself), but distributing it could earn you a cease & desist notice from Arthaus.

Great start... keep up the good work & good luck.

Note to John... would he be able to list all feats on the site, what books and pages said feat is located, and a brief description of the feats function in his own words? MINUS how it actually works?

example)
Cold One- Ravenloft 3rd edition p.47 (Link to online product sale)
Other books it may appear in here.
Undead tend to ignore you.

As that doesn't give a full description OR the stats to implement it is that acceptable? It educates the viewer where to find the information and a basic idea what the feat does without giving away the actual info.

Or is that illegal as well?
Just curious

My feats list, which I checked then, and successfully downloaded, only contains the name of the feat, prerequisites if any, and the page reference.

As a reference, I don't think that's breaking any laws. I'm gonna leave it up, and if Arthaus wants it removed, I will remove them. They are only names and page numbers.

I don't think anyone could seriously have a problem with them. I'm not trying to claim copyright or anything either.

Does anyone know if the new player's handbook has character sheets?

To the best of my knowledge, that would be perfectly fine.

In that case, I reckon you're in the clear. (I got a "Forbidden" notice when I clicked the link.)

Did anyone else have problems downloading the files?

Has anyone tried?

They're zipped and in pdf.

Now that the blinks are gone I have to congratulate you on your efforts since the site itself looks very nice and has quite a potential in case you won't tire from the project.

The feats list is still unaccessible, it says that "forbidden - data files must be stored on the same site they are linked from".

Hmm... strange...

Can you download the character sheet? Or the fonts on the black arts/scriptorium page?

I can download all of them with a left click, but right click doesn't seem to work for the feats list.

I think it is a worthy effort. It will certainly be improved over time. Congratulations though for the initiative. If you ever need any contributions let us know. I am sure a lot of people would be happy to provide assistance. Is there an e-mail address we can use to send any proposals?

My email address is at the bottom of every page, in the copyrights sections. But in case you miss it, it's:

A fine effort sir; through imagery, you have captured well the feel required, and I wish you well with it. Rather than stress and strain over things, do say if assistance is required with your work; as I, there must be many willing to help for the sake of our game. It is all too easy for us to just sit here and wait for what ever delights to fall into our grasp, which is not the correct attitude.

It is due to 'most' of us relying on something, i.e. the Karg, we had no right to, that we are in this state. I understand the USS and QTR teams are working on something together, which should be good; that said, a couple of good, well supported sites would not go amiss. I am merely afeared of the three-dozen mediocre sites that fade away.

You could count the number of decent Ravenloft sites on one hand at the moment. The rest are are mix of broken links, years neglected homepages and empty promises.

That's why I decided to start this website. As long as I'm motivated as a DM, I should be motivated as a webmaster.

I've added some more character sheets, but there's more on the way. Developing simple prayer and spell sheets. I developed the prayer sheet especially so that my cleric, a new player, could have a nice way to record her memorised prayers.

but the feats didnĀ“t:

You mis-wrote the address for the .pdf link. If one should erase the latter part of the address for the downloads (when the error page shows up for file not found) - as such: '../downloads/'

one gets the following list (bold place by myself):

Parent Directory 2003-NOV-14 03:41:35 0
ravenloftfeats.pdf 2003-NOV-11 04:42:15 113k
ravenloftfonts.zip 2003-NOV-10 13:08:42 137k
rlcharactersheet.zip 2003-NOV-10 13:08:42 119k
rlclericprayers.pdf 2003-NOV-11 04:42:15 74k
rlclericprayers.zip 2003-NOV-11 04:42:15 41k
rlfeats.zip 2003-NOV-10 11:29:30 86k
rloftcharacter.pdf 2003-NOV-11 04:42:15 143k

As such, the link to the .pdf file (../downloads/rlfeats.pdf) is mis-written.

I still get a forbidden message when trying to download / access the .zip file. I'm not sure what is wrong here. I tried it with both IE and Netscape, but I still get the same message.

Do you want me to email it to you?

The links all work for me.

Maybe the file protections aren't set so outsiders can read the file?

If you're using a Unix-type system 'chmod 755' should do it, if you have the ability to set file-reading permissions.

Well, as long as you have one or the other. I did a pretty large update yesterday. Added some more sheets I designed for my players, including a sorcerer spell sheet, with spells per day, etc, a dm quick sheet, fear horror and madness record sheet for keeping track of your players, etc.

I wish I could play with the file protections, but with the free hosting I have, I have little choice but to use their crappy file uploader, which is very crappy. You have to manually select each file to upload through an IE interface.
