Finally, Reaper Miniatures (my personal favorite choice for producing quality unpainted metal minis) has commissioned some lizard-like models which would make for excellent draconian minis:

http://www.reapermini.com/?nav=Models&sub=Greens

The ones in question are from the "reptus" line, at the bottom of the page.

Now all I have to do is wait for them to turn the greens into actual models.

They do look nice!

But i have the old box set of minis from TSR featuring the Draconians minis

I would buy those from Reaper to augment my army tho.

Thanks for the link!

Yeah, the old Draconians miniatures set is really nice, but I've always wanted more. I think the best draconian alternatives out there right now are the dragonmen from Mage Knight (the green dragon guys with wings). Unfortunately, all of them are really rare and are usually $12 or more a piece.

Through the years, I've seen some decent draconian-like miniatures (I think Ral Partha actually had a single "draconian" miniature, as well as a "dragonman", but like the boxed set these are long since out of production), but my appetite for draconian figs has never been satiated.

The next WotC miniatures expansion looks like it'll have Baaz in it - so I'm hoping they'll have all the others too (which would make sense, given the common/uncommon/rare scheme). I've also heard rumors that WotC will be releasing non-random 'sets' (like an orc warband pack), so I'm really really really hoping there'll be a draconian one.

In the meantime, I recently found a pretty good alternative, although it requires a little work. I bought some lizardfolk minis made by Reaper (nice minis, still in production I believe). Then, I took some of the common Mage Knight minis with wings and pulled them off, and attached them to the lizardfolk minis. I guess any wings you could get or make would work. They came out looking quite nice, although I haven't painted them yet.

Has anybody else come up with some good alternatives? Or ways to get/make wings?

p.s. Do the Reptus minis have wings? I couldn't really tell from the pictures. They look incredible regardless.

Unfortunately not. However, sticking wings on them from cheap models as you suggest is a great solution.

Actually, WotC cancelled the nonrandom sets a couple of weeks back--the random minis are selling too well for nonrandom packaging to be worthwhile.

They have a pic of one of the 2 draconian mini's comming out in the Dragoneye expansion in this months "In the Works" Column.

Its a Kapak Draconian, and the other one, which I believe is a Bazz, is in the new Miniatures Handbook.

I can't wait to get a ton of these.

These are indeed very good. Does anyone have any idea as to a price for these?.

Aren't they just sweet looking?

I have to say, I was quite surprised to see a draconian mini. More incentive to buy the Miniatures HB.

I've picked up one of the minis being sold individually - a thri-kreen. It looked really good, although I was somewhat disappointed that it was plastic and not pewter. Still, it's already painted, looks fairly good, and the little bugger (hyuck hyuck) is just awesome looking. Plus they each come with a card with their stats.

You poor, poor people. Having to shell out all that money to buy little plastic/metal miniatures. *I* have found an easy and inexspensive way to make *MY* miniatures:

Legos. Seriously. Let's see, my Sorcerer has the head from a spaceman weraing a cool headband(he's not an alien, just a spaceman), green legs, green wizard body(well, it's not really the wizard body, but it looks the same only green), Harry Potter's Invisiblility Cloak, and a black witch's hat(not to mention a spear from the Dragons MegaBlocks sets). Our kender has bright orange legs, blue wizard body(because he's a sorcerer as well as a kender. It has pouches, you see), his arms are different but I forget what they are, just a normal Legoman head because we couldn't find anything better, and Padme Amidala's hair. Our paladin and fighter are some of the guys from the MegaBlocks fairly new sets, Dragons. Their armor is really detailed, as is their weapons. And, the dragons out of those sets are a lot more D&D-esque than Lego dragons. They're huge, and different colors, like bronze and red.

I've created Tanis Half-Elven but painting the white wizard beard red. I've made the Staff of Magius by taking a brown Harry Potter wand, attaching it to one end of a lightsaber handle, and attaching the Sorcerer's Stone to the other end. The Blue Crystal Staff is a blue lightsaber with a blue gem on the end that's really just a colored rock piece. I'm going to see about getting a blue Sorcerer's Stone from somebody to work on it some more. If my aunt ever gets her digital camera hooked up, I might post pictures of them if you'd like.
