I rather studiously avoided thinking about it. The Gazetteers were specifically designed to leave plenty of room for DMs to place small communities wherever they want. "Somewhere in the woods" is as close as I'd get.

Let me profit to ask. When doing the Gazetteers, how did you decide the locations of things ? Were they all from the authors' judgements or did you consider fan, non-official work, like the maps at the Mordentish Cartographic Society (since they have been for years more detailed than the ones in the DoD and, I imagine, the ones in the Boxed Sets)

No, we didn't consider fan work, unless it was our own. I consider it unethical to use other peoples' creations without getting their permission, crediting them, or compensating them, most of which was not in our power to do.

As for how I decided where stuff was, I always worked with every prior reference to the domain sitting next to me (in the case of Darkon, this was quite a stack) and referenced them continuously. In the case of new locales or existing locales of uncertain location, I just used creative judgement, the same way I constructed the unofficial timeline.

Speaking of which...

Is there a site where future generations can consult your gargantuan timeline?

The Fraternity of Shadows got some permission to publish old Kargatane info such as their FAQ, so they may also get the timeline.
I'm debating playing around with one myself.
