I am looking for any really good ideas to mix up a campaign and story line. I will be bringing in a Vampire Hunter (Undead Slayer) brought in from Forgotten Realms and a Planet Touched (Air) also from Forgotten Realms. It will start with the typical "your walking and a mist rolls in unexpectedly... blah blah blah...

But I really want some good twists to throw in seeing as how they are both oddities, I am sure there has got to be something juicey about having a Vampire Hunter in Ravenloft!

Any ideas would help! Thanks!!!

Have them spend the first adventure or two investigating vampires are ghosts where in both cases there are other explinations. Throw in no magic, no undead, no creatures. Make it only natural animals and the like.
The vampire could be a charlatan or fraud trying to scare people into giving him a bride or the like and the haunted house could be an investor eliminating buyer. Go for the full Scooby Doo thing.

Throws them off guard. Then you bring in the real monsters.
Which could be people they previously met.

It's gratuitious and reeks of shock-factor but after two obvious fakes if they get attacked or witness a werebeast slaughtering something it will really drive things home. Ineffective weapons and being horribly outclasses by a terrible inhuman beast. More standard horror, but works great.
