Hello, I am going to base my adventures in Dragonlance campaign setting. I just bought the book and I have finished it but I want your opinions.

(Please note I am still confused what the "Dragonlance World" is really called so I will just call this world Dragonlance in this post... sorry. I think the continent is Ansalon and the world is Krynn, right??)

Tell me where could I start my first Dragonlance campaign? I have actually made an adventure where the just-created characters meet as slaves in an orc tribe, so could you tell me where orcs exist in the Dragonlance world? They should preferrably be a strayed tribe as near HUMAN civilization as possible so my PC's have a chance of surviving their armed escape from the orc prison. (Of course I could have a level 20 mage find them in the woods and guide them to the nearest city but that's too cheesy). Also be as specific as possible so I can find the area you are suggesting from the DL maps.

I thank you very much in advance!

Hi John!

There aren't any orcs in Dragonlance, but you could easily replace them with another suitably dangerous humanoid race such as goblins, hobgoblins, ogres, or kobolds. If you go with goblins (and their relatives), you could kick the campaign off near Qualinesti, near the city of Tarsis or the town of Solace. That would also make for some familiar territory as those locations were in the books.

Cheers,

Hiya. Welcome to Krynn.

I would also recommend starting in Abanasinia, and around Solace or Haven. The area is relatively peaceful and not full of draconians or solamnic/nerakese knights.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Also, you could have started off in Throtl, since all the hobgoblins live there, but the DLCS doesn't say much about the surrounding area, like Lemish (:mad, but then you can just fill it with whatever appropriate things you think should go there. Except orcs. But it's fairly near Solamnia, and last I heard, they were still in control of it, so some Solamnic Knights could still be met around there.
