in the official races chapter on planewalker.com i find this: "Due to a pact formed centuries ago between the githyanki and the goddess Tiamat, red dragons have always come to the aid of the githyanki people. Whether this extends to individual githyanki is anyone’s guess."

The traits also state this:
"Red Dragon Pact: Githyanki receive a +4 racial bonus to Diplomacy checks with red dragons."

why was this added? this has a serious impact on the race. when/where/why was this pact formed, and who created this story and especially: why?

Hej,
yes there is a heavy impact which has to do with their history. I don not remind it rightly but in DUNGEON 100 I think. The issue about INCURSION with the Githyanki lich queen. Just look if you can get an issue. There is you will find the whole story.

Basically Gith, the leader of the slave revolt against the illithids, went to Baator after her followers won the following civil war, and while she was there she made some sort of bargain with Tiamat. Some time after that a red dragon appeared on the Astral and told the githyanki that she would not be coming back, but that Vlaakith I would be her successor and that there was an eternal pact between the githyanki and the red dragons. Since then githyanki raids on the Prime have frequently involved dragons as steeds for their knights.

I think the civil war was still ongoing when she made the pact-tecnically it never ended though, they're still fighting.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of Githyanki Half dragons and a slew of dragon blooded sorcerers as well. Unlike Crazy_DM I would recomend the issue. I tend to have a lot of Githyanki in my campains and I've found it very usefull.

I suppose the story is copyrighted and cannot be published, or is not available somewhere on the net?

Nah, copyright never really stopped anyone. It's just that there just isn't a lot of stuff on the Githyanki out there on the web (Trust me, I've looked). They've never been *that* popular.

Your assumption is correct. The only thing I have found related to this is a [free] web enhancement detailing the flying fortresses.

Incursion is a great idea, but when they designed some of the Gith abilities I don't know what they were on. I mean who can't beat any of their psionic attacks (daze DC 14 or telekinesis)? I also hate that they didn't include any actual psionic info to use the githyanki, or duthka'gith... And they changed their powers! It used to be Claiuraudiance/clairvoyance, not Daze or Blur, what gives? And the Duthka'gith's breath weapon has a pitifully low save DC (10th level, Con 16 is only DC 18).

I've been running a Incursion-esque plotline IMC for a few sessions and my PC's just trounce the Githyanki. My party is pretty durned powerful (9 PC's 13-16th level), even with less than average treasue for their level (I think. It's been about 5 levels since I checked their wealth). Tonight only 5 of them stomped a Deathbringer (CR 17) with little to no damage taken. I've gotta throw EL's of at least 19-23 to even scratch them anymore! [/venting rant]

I mostly used the "fluff" myself, and for that-there's nothing else on the Githyanki.

I had the opposite problem, my party kept getting eaten for breakfast-granted, I had a very supid party.

There is some Githyanki Stuff at: http://www.planewalker.com/loz/githyanki.shtml

I remember an older Dungeon had an attack on a githyanki fortress in the Astral Plane.

I especially remember it had some really cool weapons: Worldwalker, a variant Sword of the Planes, and Diamondedge, an uber-silversword.

Dang, I wish I had kept my Dungeon and Dragon magazines...

There's actually some good Githyanki material available on the web. Check this out from those ingenious bloods at planewalker.com http://www.planewalker.com/loz/githyanki.shtml

I guess the cadence of the planes is bigger into yoinking other people's posts rather than reading them?
