I got an idea from the survey that was posted a couple of weeks back regarding new Ravenloft fiction. How about those of us who like to write fiction teaming up to put out a netbook compilation? The Fraternity of Shadows has graciously volunteered to host this project and I will edit it. Would anybody be interested in submitting some good . . . Well, evil fiction?

I'm all about that. I've been kicking around an idea for a fic anyway, so I'll try to keep up with the progress.

Here are the guidelines for the project, which has a working title of Tales of the Mists :

1. The title isn't set in (grave)stone yet, so please feel free to give input
on it.

2. Stories from any land of Ravenloft can be used. This includes both canon
and non-canon, though they must have been published in some form, such as one of
the netbooks. If your story takes place in a non-canon land, please include the
source where the description of this land can be found in your initial query.

3. Unfortunately, I know nothing about MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, so I would be a
poor critic of fiction set there. As of now, let's keep this collection in the
Land of the Mists.

4. In keeping with Wizards of the Coast policy, keep the stories at a PG-13
level, at least with regard to sexuality. TO SLEEP WITH EVIL is generally
considered the most mature Ravenloft novel, so let's keep our stories from being
more mature than that.

5. While this collection won't necessarily be canon, it should compliment
canon. In other words, we can't kill off any major characters. Darklords
should never be allowed to overcome their curses, so we can't let Strahd have
Tatyana, no matter how much we feel sorry for the big guy.

6. If you'd like to donate a story that you've written (or will write) to this
project, send me a synopsis of the story to adventureauthor@lycos.com. If
accepted, I will e-mail you with my personal e-mail address, to which you would
send the completed story as an attachment. We are going for a max of twenty
stories, so get those ideas in soon!

7. The deadline for the initial queries is March 31, 2004. The deadline for
the completed story is August 1, 2004. I'm shooting for a Halloween of 2004
release date.
