Dragons of a Fallen Sun........I really don't like this book. I have read almost all of them and this is the first one I dont like. All the new characaters. I mean Tanis was my favorite and now! OH MAN! I really dont like Mina. Anyone have any suggestions.

Well, Fallen Sun happens about 70 years after the Chronicles and 40 years after Summer Flame, so naturally it has a lot of new characters.

If you don't like it, you don't like it. However, I do think that the War of Souls trilogy keeps getting better the further you read it, so my suggestion would be for you to keep reading.

Oh yeah, definately. I'm gonna keep reading, I just don't like it. If they get better I will keep reading, but I mean if they don't. Whats the point?

I felt nearly the same when I first started reading the trilogy, but I eventually came to like the new characters, except for Mina. I don't know what it is about her, I just never did like the character. I didn't like Gerard when I first started reading either, but he became my favorite character in the books, and I've come to enjoy the character almost as much as the heroes of the lance.
Point being...it does get better and I, therefore, urge you to continue reading.

it gets worse before it gets better.
Book two literally made me hurl my copy into the corner of my room.

Book three made me want to play in a current age dragonlance campaign more than anything ever, and reinvigorated my love for the setting.

stick with it =)

I have to agree with Talinthas. I liked Book 3 the best for the same reasons.

As for Mina, she reminded me of Joan of Arc as presented in the film “The Messenger”, except evil, of course.

But in all fairness I don’t think Mina was anywhere near as horrible as Silvanoshei. I’ve never disliked a fictional character as much as him.

Book three is the best. Frankly I have to say the most upsetting thing about the books is that it seemed sooooo.... forced. In the chronicels the writing was smooth and you naturally flowed with the story as it was told. In this one it felt like you were being grabbed and forced from point a to point b to C to D to E and while you're at E you're still trying to figure out how A got to B. I know that there was all this divine manipulation and such, but that gets old quick. Not only that but mortals kicked Chaos' butt, and Fistandilious almost killed Takhisis on her HOME plane at the HEIGHT of her power. You're telling me no one else could bother her??/

But.

We've heard this all before. So i'll just shut up now. *scuttles off into a corner to finish working on his campaign*

Now. I do like the new setting. The mystic is great. That new campaign i'm working on, though it isn't Dragonlance (my group voted down a DL campaign, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! I'm sooooo mad), the campaign I am working on will have Mystics, and Dragonarmies (slightly different), and all sorts of things taken from DragonLance.

I'm not selling anything so its not copyright infringment. Just entertainment for private use!! so no sueing! *waggles his finger at the lawyers that are gathering*

Rosisha, who is a big fan of the Mystic class, especially the Citadel Mystic!

I tried to resist, but it's useless. I just have to comment on that.

It took the collective effort of the people of Krynn and every god (Takhisis helped a little as well) to defeat Chaos.

Takhisis wasn't, and would never have been, defeated on her home plane. Raistlindantilus' plan was lure her to the prime.

Anyway...

I almost agree with you there. Silvanoshei came a close second for characters that I hated, right behind Mina. He was so caught up in Mina, and she was so caught up with the one god, and they both came across as people obsessed. They were also both spoiled brats in my opinion. However, Silvanoshei had a little more depth to him, which is the only reason he comes in second. I originally felt the same way about Gilthas, but he later redeemed himself. Come to think of it, that's how I originally felt about Laurana as well, so maybe Mina will mature and redeem herself in my eyes as well.
Anyways, not trying to start a character bashing thread....so on with the conversation...

Well I guess I haven't gotten that far enough to get to know Silvanoshei. So far, mind you im not that far in Dragons of a Fallen Sun, I don't think he is that bad.

There is just something about Mina. I don't know what it is but she is just a pain. With her one God, she just seems like, oh how to say it, power hungry. She could use an attitude adjustment.

How many more books do you think they are gonna come out with after the War of the Souls?

I still dont know what this campaign thing is. What is it!

Dragonlance Campaign Setting, a sourcebook for the 3.5 edition of the Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying game. It contains the essential information for setting up a game session (or campaign, a series of game sessions) in the world of Dragonlance.

D&D is the pen and paper role playing game that Dragon Lance is based off. 3.5 is the edition the game is in, alot has changes sense ver. 1 where Dragonlance beguan.

If you like Dragonlance I recomend you play D&D, just go to your local hobby shop or book store and look for the D&D bulitin board (most shops in my area have one) find a group you like, and start gameing.
I also recomend you buy at least the Players Handbook and the Dragonlance Campaign setting.

Welcome to the world of D&D, we hope you stay
