Canon be darned...

List Epic Dragonlance characters and what levels YOU'D put them at from Magius and Huma to Raistlin and Goldmoon on.

At present the only one's confirmed I have are....

Fistandtanalius (whose varied alot) but seems to be at 23rd level

Yarus the High Clerist, 23rd level Priest of Paladin (Dragons of Light supplement)

High Lord Arikaus, 23rd level Cleric, 10th level Fighter and possibly a Black Robe

(One point I think I'd like to make here is my theory that Ariakus was never actually a wizard but Takhasis gave him the experience of being one so that he would be able to command Black Robes more effectively- as a True Cleric his magic would be indistinguishable from a normal Wizards under weak scrutiny)

Raistlin Majere, whom had all of Fistandtanalius' power

Lord Soth was listed as a 20th level Paladin, which seems rather abundantly high but then again it seemed he was also the greatest Knight of his Age.... (Knights of the Black Rose)

Oddly he was listed as a 10th level Fighter in Ravenloft

The King Priest was equally listed as a 20th level Priest in that same supplement

I would give Silvanos and Kith-Kanan, the ancient elven heroes, epic fighter / ranger levels : perhaps 12th F / 12th R?

Honestly? I have a distinct disdain for epic characters. The only characters I'd probably include at epic are Fistandantilus and Raistlin. And only because there's few other ways to justify their power.

Others? They shouldn't need to go over level 20. All my opinion, ofcourse.

I would have thought not. Silvanos was the father of Sithas and Kith-Kanan, and all would have had noble levels. Silvanos then, I think, would have spellcasting, Sithas maybe a level or two of ranger, and Kith-Kanan maybe some legendary tactician, but none actually epic level. Maybe 15th-17th at most.

I'll go along with that. DL has always had the 20 level cap - since 1st ed. and DLA - in fact, I think the book mentions something somewhere about the gods getting involved when characters get too big for their mortal status. Of course, Fisty and Fisty/Raist were doing something about their overlarge levels themselves, and you could argue the same for the KP, but by all accounts if that guy was actually an epic char., then he was an epic cleric who didn't get any spells - not too impressive. I think that Righteous Zealot thing fits him pretty well, but I digress....

Yeah DL always (maybe i'm wrong) had that 18th level cap. But if you look at the classics modules you will find people who are higher than 18 or even 20 levels. More contradictions.

Ariakus, Lucien, Lord Soth.

Lorac is pushing the limit (18th on the dot).
Salah-Khan - 17th.

Speaking of Lucien... what was he? Just straight Fighter?

Yep. Although him being a highlord and all, I would probably convert some of those levels into the Dragon Rider Prc class in the DLCS.

Heh, cool. I've been using him in the background of a War of the Lance game I'm running. Eventually the PCs will have to run into him, though, and I've been meaning to figure out what he is...

Thanks for the help.

It was stated in the 1E Dragonlance Adventures hardcover that the gods typically "reassigned" people who got past 18th level to other worlds. Sometimes special dispensation would be granted (usually by Takhisis, who liked to stretch the rules) in cases like Raistlin or Ariakis.

It is true that Krynn characters don't seem to get as big for their britches as characters from Oerth or Toril. Divine Ascension doesn't appear to be an option on Krynn normally (unless you try to take it by force, as Raistlin did). But it would seem possible that the gods might have allowed characters that gained powers too great for the world to sustain to leave.

Until recently I spelled it GilGeaM so I don't mind leaving off an e when typing fast

No, its just that I've actually heard people refer to Paladine, as Paladin and it used to drive me mad!

I'm crazy by the way.

No doubt. :D

It just irks me when PCs call him Bahamut.

I was in a FR campaign with a player who had a Rose Knight and always got into a fight with the player who had a Paladin of Bahamut.

Liam Erhling (the current Grand Master of the Knights of Solamnia) is a 21st Level Character (if memory serves correctly).

Indeed it does, but unfortunately I don't remember his exact levels.
