What is your favorite rare Krynnish creature/race that haven't played a major role in a novel? And do you have any story ideas about the creatures?

One of my favorites is the Phaethons. Picture an elf or half-elf with fiery wings.

It's in the Bestiary. I would tell you, but it would spoil the surprise.

Hee hee hee.

*pipes up in a little voice* I like kodragons. Opposable thumbs, literacy and a pouch that serves as a portable hole makes them excellent familiars.

If you don't like the name, can't we just change it? ;)

Kodragons appear in soo many DL adventures it is kinda weird that they haven't shown up yet in any novels... I liked shadow dragons before Rabe went went on her spree of putting EVERY lost race into her trilogy...
Phaetons are kool too! I would love to play one, or have one of my players as one(since I get stuck DMing ALL the time) Hey BTW Cam, will the Bestiary have any new player character races?

I always like the Taylors... One appeared in Kindred Spirits i think...

I guess everyone loves Kodragons. I even admitt that they my favorite rare creature. I would love to read about King Riley(mentioned in Kendermore), a leprechaun king among the kender. Can hardly believe that would be possible with leprechaun's greed and kender's nature. The only other cool story about a rare animal I can think of might be a swarm mosquito dragons escaping the Dragon Isles and wrecking havoc on the mainland maybe they could be larger due to the death of a dragon near them causing the swarm to grow in size.

It will have some races which can be taken by players as PCs, yes. However, it's not a supplement to the Player's Handbook, it's the Krynnish version of the Monster Manual, so the rules are similar to those provided in the MM (in other words, some monsters have a section on how to create characters).

And I don't have a problem with the kodragon's name. It's the fact that they're annoying little furry kangaroo-lizards with big soulful eyes and a writing tablet.

Cam

I believe those are the Tiger Clan elves from Taladas, IIRC.

They're not annoying, they're rather quiet and studious. As for their cuteness, that's also a reason to have them as a familiar. Who wants an ugly familiar anyway?

I love the fact that their portable pouch works to help out an encumberance challenged-wizard (due to their low strength scores) and I like how having a familiar who can help out with the mundane tasks of scribing scrolls and such.

If not the Kodragon, I'd like a creature that does those things for my wizard.

I'm going to continue the discussion on kodragons on the DL general boards. If you guys want to discuss them further, that's the place to go.

Feel free to continue with the topic of this thread.

Yes, they do!

So do afflicted half-kender. I've got one of those in my Dragonlance campaign at the moment.

just thought of two...

The Dargonesti(The Dragon Isles) and the Dimernesti(The Blood Sea of Istar), the two tribes of sea eleves. Well, at least I think there are only two tribes.
