In the Dragonlance campaign setting can a 1st-level Minotaur journey with a 1st-level party(Considering ECL and all of that.) ? If so, How ? I thought they would be too strong for regular 1st-level characters.

Actually, DL has its own, unique brand of minotaurs. They are a toned down version of the regular D&D minotaurs, with no ECL. This would make it possible for a minotaur to adventure alongside other first level characters. That is, if you are using the Dragonlance Campaign Setting, of course.

Frankly, I would be more afraid of a DL minotaur than a D&D minotaur of the same effective level. Having fighter as a favored class definitely means they will own in the feat department.

Edit: After reading your other post, I have deduced that you have the DLCS, so I suggest rereading the minotaur in the races section.

The Problem with DCLS Minotaurs is that they SHOULD have an ECL. Higher base Speed, Average stats, A Natural Attack, Natural armor, they really need to have an ECL of +1, and i run them that way in my campaigns. Anyone else feel that way?

I have player with a minotaur barbarian in my current game (character is 2nd level at the mo) and so far I've had no trouble with the character. He's being played as a front line warrior and he doesn't appear any more overbalanced than any other character.

considering that minotaurs are an established race in DL, it would make sense that they are able to be played as 1st lvl PC's, if you were to give an ECL to krynn minotaurs then there would have to be some bonus to playing a gully dwarf (apart from the bonus that you can live of the land, or whatever else you find)
naturally playing a minotaure even in krynn would have some serious problems, considering that the elves of krynn very nearly always slay any minotaurs they come across, it would make it hard to stay alive as a minotaur, now draconians richly deserve to have ECL's as they can be even more deadly then minotaurs

Except that in virtually every book, a minotaur is described as being a match for about 4 humans or elves, and an ogre is described as being a match for about 4 minotaurs. So saying that minotaurs have an ecl of +0 is rubbish, it was done so only because DL is a low-level world, and a lot of people like minotaurs, and would want to play them from low-levels.

I think maybe change the -2 to dex to a +2 to con, up the ecl by one and give them a racial hit die or two.

That depends on whether the minotaur in question is a 1st level warrior or, as I suspect, a 4th level warrior or fighter.

The racial writeup is a convenient baseline for the creation of PCs, but we shouldn't think that it directly translates to the novels in that sense. I think the majority of minotaur armies would be populated by soldiers with more than 1 HD.

Cheers,

We Minoraurs are bread for battle.

We are taken right from our mothers teet and trained to not only wield weapons and pump iron but taught day after day about our superiority to ALL other races.

By the time an average human learns to use a weapon (if the average human is trained to use a weapon at all) our training is in full bloom.

When a lesser (non-Minotaur) army clashes with ours even if they win they walk away telling tails of our lust and skill in battle.

When the gods first began to clash Reorx forged a blade for Sarga's. Once Sargas received the blade he tested its edge by drawing the bare blade along the palm of his hand. The fallen blood became the Minotaur Nation.
