Morgion v. Chemosh?

Okay, last night I started a screw-around campaign to test out the rules in the DLCS. Problem is, I think I actually like the plot I've set up. I'd like some comments/suggestions from fellow DL freaks on how I could work Chemosh into this plot.

Okay, this is in the Age of Mortals. The party was hanging in the Inn o' the Last Home and a cleric of Chemosh approached them (he was disguised as a priest of Mishakal). He asked them to investigate tales of a town turned undead (he wanted to find out who was screwing around with his portfolio).

It turned out that the town wasn't undead, they were dead though. Some followers of Morgion has poisoned the well and killed off the town. Some Gutpuppets (from the Monstrous Mayhem section awhile ago) came in and had good times.

So the party comes in and kills a few, gets thoroughly confused, and reports back to the priest.

So what should the priest do now?

If it was my game, I might do something like when the players get back to the cleric of chemosh and report to him what had happened to the town you have the priest slip up and somehow reveal who he really worships. (Maybe he drops an evil holy symbol or something to that effect, or maybe the group's kender finds one of the dark cleric's pouches or he says something to throw suspicion on himself.) In any case he could actually have just hired them to remove the Gutbusters so he could go in raise the entire village as undead for the glory of Chemosh. Unless the party properly buried the entire village (which is doubtful) this should work.

On top of this have the bad guy start spreading a rumor that the party is the one that killed the entire town and are now carrying the plauge. Make people think the party is worshiping Morgion. So they have to capture this guy and prove their innonence on top of preventing him from raising an entire village of undead.

Just an idea...

This could turn into an interesting scenario. Somehow, have the party come across something the cleric dropped. If you have a kender, maybe he pilfered a holy symbol (not the medallion of faith - something else).

Once the party figures it out, they can go back to the town, to discover the cleric has taken it over. Not only that, but the cleric is marching on another town with his new minions.

Meanwhile, Morgion's cultists are out for revenge. Problem is, they hear false information that the party are the allies of the cleric! If they discover the unholy symbol of Chemosh....

Just some thoughts.

See, if these gods are not hanging from bungee cords and wielding chainsaws I just don't see the match being fun.

I would file him away, this sounds like perfect long time BBEG material. Have him, in disguise use the party to further some other plans of his.

One of my personal favorites would be the old "Retrieve evil powerful artifact from horrible place for me and bring it to me so that I may destroy it properly... I would go myself but I have some grand excuse." Of course he plans on useing the artifact rather than destroy it, if they want to see the destruction then slieght of hand and a handy illusion. Have him keep using the party.

Much later they should find out that they've been used to make him more powerful and make his God's hold on their part of the world that much tighter. Just to twist the knife in the wound I'd sugest at least one dead loved one of the party be turned into a Ghast, Bodak or some other semi-intelligent evil undead.
