I played D&D for the first time with this module. Now I wanna give the chance to my player's to go against Zanzer Tem in 3.5 but I can't find the original map.... If anyone can make a copy of the map , it's all I need. By the way, I'd be interrested to hear from the experiences of everyone who went against Zanzer. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : Lost_and_Damned Date : 08-27-03 05:11 PM the Zanzer Tem Module was included in the 1991 and 1994 Classic Dungeons and Dragons games, of which there are many copies of the 1991 version going cheap on ebay at any time, the 1994 versions are rarer, esp the black box version, of which i've only seen a few in my life.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : WizO_Winter Date : 08-28-03 03:49 AM I've gone up against Zanzer Tem and still have the boxed set somewhere (I think it's the 91 version, but it is in a black box with a red dragon on the front). I still remember the werewolf, the elven princess (Adele?) and one of the first corridors you come across with the pit trap. IRC, there was a second level to the dungeon that the DM had to flesh out with a young white dragon. Ah, memories. :-) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : wingsandsword Date : 09-02-03 04:19 AM Wow, A real burst of nostalgia there, I remember the 1991 version, with the black box and red dragon on the cover. I was in junior high, my dad thought D&D was satanic because the preacher said so, I had friends who were interested in D&D, but my dad expressed his extreme displeasure with me playing that game with them (he has somewhat mellowed in the dozen or so years since). My mom didn't care either way about D&D, so while I couldn't buy D&D books at the local bookstore (which my dad's friend owned, so I couldn't buy them there), I could buy that boxed set at the Toys R' Us when my mom took me there, and take it home (storing it in my closet in a different box). Never got to play that module, but I poured through the rules (it only could go from 1st to 5th level), and learned all the monsters and the layout for the adventure (and everything else in that little booklet). Zanzer Tem, the 5th level Magic User. A seemingly impossibly powerful spellcaster. The Elven Princess Adelle, the Orc Slave-Driver Jeri. At the very end was the very young White Dragon Kamrko, an actual dragon to fight! I read the tantalyzing ads for products I wasn't able to buy, a Rules Cyclopedia for playing characters to 36th level? What is this "Dark Sun" thing? A year or two later TSR came out with their "Dragon Quest" simplified D&D board-game (I think it was supposed to be competition for Hero Quest, which I also had with all the expansions), and I bought that too. In all those years, the only real AD&D book I could get ahold of was Aurora's Catalog. Now that was a great book (too bad we'll probably never see a 3e version, the old timey catalog paper and 'old sears catalog' look of the catalog and how it included such utterly mundane things like gingerbread cookies and a dozen types of ale just made it all seem so real). Didn't get to play D&D until 7 years later, in someone's home brew 2e AD&D game, and only knowing those basic D&D rules sure made for a fun little culture clash when I joined a AD&D 2e Skills & Powers game. Clerics that got spells at 1st level? Most of the PC's were 10th level, that was twice as high as I had ever seen to exist! Elves aren't all Fighter-Mages, they can be other things too? I'm not dead the moment I hit 0 HP? Just a random walk down memory lane (thanks for the reminder). . . -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:18 AM.
